Advice please!

Hi!! I am new in here and I really need an advice! :)

I am pursuing right now my Degree in Psychology and hopefully finishing it this December and I am really interested in Nursing too.... But whenI called to a College to get some info, they told me that I need to do ANOTHER Bachelor Degree!!

Can someone please help me out and tell me if there's something shorter that I can do, so I can continue my studies with nursing and complement it with my Psychology Degree:)... I don't know if there are some courses or something that I can take...

Can someone please help me out with some information :(....

Thank you very much!!!

Specializes in med/surg, home health, nursing education.

I'm not sure where you are, but... I would look into local community colleges for a 2 year program. There are accelerated BSN programs as well that offer another bachelors degree but in an accelerated 1-2 year format.

Specializes in Acute Care, Rehab, Palliative.

Where do you live?

Look into an accelerated entry level MSN and finish all the nursing pre-reqs while you are completing your BS. I finished my BA and worked in all nursing pre-reqs so I could go straight to grad school for nursing. No sense in getting an ADN or another bachelor's when you can go straight to MSN.

Hi!

I am living now in Scottsdale AZ, but my husband is planning to move to New Hampshire....

i have to look into my collage(arizona state univ) if they have that! I love that idea. My uusband told me the same thing! Why go back when you're completing a BS!

I may be in the same situation (if I don't get into nursing this fall I am going to complete a psych degree). If this happens, I will graduate next year, retake some pre reqs to raise my GPA at a community college & then apply to second degree BSN or direct entry MSN programs. I know many people with prior bachelors who decided to take the community college Associates in nursing route, but I would prefer to get the bachelors.

Here are two links with a list of schools that offer an accelerated second degree BSN or direct entry MSN. Both Arizona & New Hampshire are on it.

Accelerated Second Degree BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) Programs

Direct Entry MSN (Masters in Nursing) Programs

Specializes in Acute Rehab, Neuro/Trauma, Dialysis.

There are plenty of schools every where that have accelerated programs, you just need to have completed a BA or BS. Most take 1-2 years depending. You just need to do some research! Good luck!

Specializes in Maternal Newborn.

Hi ~ I'd look into accelerated BSN programs or entry level MSN programs. As nursing jobs continue to be competitive, I'd get either a BSN or MSN in Nursing. I'm going into an accelerated BSN (already have my Bachelor's in Health Science) this May which is a one year program. After that, I hope to obtain a nursing position and gain experience (then obtain my MSN or MS degree). Good luck to you!

Thank you all!!

I will call Monday to ASU and will let you know!!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! :):):)

Go to a community college, they only require you to meet the pre reqs. They actually give you more of an advancement if you have a degree already :) It will be an associates in nursing.
