I wanted to start a thread for those of you who have or will apply to ADN programs for the Fall 2011 semester. I have started the process but I have completed my application yet. I am nervous and super stressed. Join this thread so we can vent together. Share our journeys into nursing school.
I have a bit of delightful news....I met with my nursing counselor today to make sure they had gotten my TEAS scores. And I asked her "what here the ranges in points of people who were accepted into the nursing program last year?" And she told me it varied from 22 points to 72 points.
That made my day. I have about 45 points by the end of the semester. I think Santa came early for me this year :)
Wow, that's quite the disparity in points! Is this out of 100 points? The 3 community colleges I'm applying to award a maximum of 100 points. If all goes well, I think I have 82 points and I'm still very nervous about my chances of getting in to my first choice campus. The deadline is Dec. 1st for Fall 2011. I'm going to go hand in my application packets tomorrow.
CCC, I know that a lot of us have been having some "good" news but the fact still remains we are still in the same boat. We are just taking the small to compensate for that "what-if" syndrome we will have until we all get our acceptance letters. One good thing about you is that you are a good student. I know its a lot of work, but I agree with the person that said to study a little bit on your own with your own NCLEX book. That's what a lot of students say they did to pass. (They were nervous and they also wanted some reassurance) We are here for you!
Emerald, Congrats! I love hear good news.
Everyone stay strong we can make it through!
ok so i decided to just ASK the nursing director at the ADN program what the first time pass rates were for the program recently....and he told me that the last 2 classes had a pass rate of 86.4 and 88.2!!!!!!
this makes me feel soooooo much better!!!!!!!!
I am for sure applying now...because those are above average for our state..and seem comparable to the surrounding schools here as well.
anyone else tired of this semester classes and just ready for something new?!!I have microbiology next semester..and Im excited to start it..along with math for meds.
Yes I am!!! I am so tired of this same routine I have been in for the past few months....Anatomy & Physiology here I come.
I have applied to two nurisng ADN programs. I should hear from one in late January, and the other early February for Fall start 2011. I'm hoping on getting accepted into the latter program. Keeping my fingers crossed and doing alot of praying! I have all pre-req's done except chemistry. I will be taking this class in the winter quarter!
Excited:yeah:

ugh..im about to scream!!!
the ADN program Im applying to is just not the best in terms of pass rates..and they are doing a major curriculum overhaul that takes effect Fall 2011..so the spring 2012 class will be the first official nursing class of the new curriculum.
they are hoping that this new curriculum change will help their pass rate which in the last 6 yrs has been mid 70's except for 2 yrs where it was mid 80's....now i've been googling old news articles on them..and it looks like the last time they changed curriculum..a small change in 2007... was because the state board of nursing was breathing down their necks about the below state average pass rates they were putting out....and im assuming the reason for this HUGE change is because once again the state board is on their butts!!
so i've been told that i'll be ok with this program..that because it has a high retention rate..usually 2-3 students out of 30 dont graduate...it kind of evens out the low nclex pass rate...but im just freaking out reading all these articles..thinking maybe I should WAIT and do their new program instead of the old....
the reason im applying for this program is all other ADN's are about an hour away from me...although I am currently accepted into a LPN program..again an hour away from me..so that is my backup..but its a hard schedule..5 days a week 8-4pm..so thats why I was applying to this ADN program.
i just dont know what to do...im a good student..and a lot of nurses are telling me if i study hard for the nclex on my own with a good review book i should be fine...regardless of the schools pass rates.
