I wanted to start a thread for those of you who have or will apply to ADN programs for the Fall 2011 semester. I have started the process but I have completed my application yet. I am nervous and super stressed. Join this thread so we can vent together. Share our journeys into nursing school.
Well my application deadline was January 31th and my school says that they have until May 31th to notify applicants if they have been accepted. And the plan on using all of the time.....
This right here is my biggest fear for one of the schools I am waiting for...down to the exact dates and everything. There should be some sort of law against this torture.
It has begun! I have started "e-mail stalking" the nursing department at my school. I have been trying to get through this process without doing so but I couldn't help it. They should break it down in stages like you are trying out for the school basketball team. Did I make the first cut? But I sent two emails to two different people. I do not think that I am severe yet but I am about to stop :-) Getting frustrated!!!
Well at least you have a date that you will recieve a response by - the
school I applied to has a double lottery - one just for an invite from them
to take the TEAS (I plan to do this on my own), then another Lottery from
those who do well on the TEAS - talk about torture - and NO DATES other
than the app deadline !
From History of applicants here I believe sometime around the first of May,
would be the soonest I can possible expect to hear anythng..
Guess I'll keep taking classes - Pharm is next, and the History required for graduation,
then classes toward by Bachelors.....if I apply at any other schools, I have to take the
one or two specialized classes they require.
Oho, and enjoy the time with my son, he's excited to have another summer with me!
Clean out closets, "fix Up" my desk & study area for when I finally do get in. travel.....
anything not to worry over the "what if's"
I am beginning to hate my mail carrier. Seriously. I get miffed when I check the mail and there is anything in there other than what I am waiting for. I'm trying hard to distract myself (my desk is absolutely organized down to the pens and pencils being arranged by color and the bills being filed alphabetically) but any moment of inactivity is quickly met with the obligatory "WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON OVER THERE?!?!?" thought followed by this face: I can't take this and a rejection. I NEED good news.
I got my results for the NLN exam last Saturday, 12 days after the test and the acceptance letters for the nursing program at my school go out at the end of March. I called to find out the cut-off score and she told me not to loose sleep, I am in the top 10% and they choose 60 people so I am good to go. Just found an online A&PI and II that I will be taking and starting pharmacology in a few weeks online at another school. If anyone is interested in online anatomy with labs, look at Edukan, cayuga-cc.edu, mayvillestate.edu, riosalado.edu, ocean.edu, New England University. All these schools offer online A&P with lab. Edukan is the least expensive as they charge 125.00 per credit even for out of state where most of the schools charge at least 200 per credit for out of state. I spent many days researching and Edukan which is a consortium of colleges in Kansas accredited by the Higher Learning Commission seems to have the best reviews. It depends on the time you want to spend. They have only the final proctored and it is only 100 points out of 1,000 for the semester grade.
im taking 12 credits from edukan right now. almost all of the classes are now proctor free starting with session 3 classes. they have a new program called bio sig to confirm your identity.
im really impressed with the classes im taking.
I applied to the ADN program at Kansas City Kansas Community College and am trying to not think about it too much until the letters go out the first week in April. All my pre-reques are completed and I only need to take an ethics class over the summer to fulfill my graduation requirements. I'm trying to stay busy by taking the Accelerated EMT course this semester, but mostly as a young mother of three I'm mentally stretched to the max. I just want to know if I got in.
I just go accepted to College of Southern Maryland. I am so excited and it has been a long time coming. Like everyone else that got accepted I am also very nervous because I really do not know what to expect. But to everyone good luck and DO NOT GIVE UP. From the time I started my prerequisites until I finally got accepted it took me five years and a move to another state. This was my second attempt too also so don't lose hope!

Hopefully the wait will be worth it. I am going on the assumption that I was accepted and will be very disappointed if I am not. The stats are in my favor, I can't imagine that many people scored above the 90 percentile for the NLN exam but you never know. Waiting for the NLN scores was tough but now I am busy finishing classes and starting some spring classes at a different school so that I can have all nonnursing classes done before I start.
Good luck!
