Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I wanted to start a thread for those of you who have or will apply to ADN programs for the Fall 2011 semester. I have started the process but I have completed my application yet. I am nervous and super stressed. Join this thread so we can vent together. Share our journeys into nursing school.

Thick is great! They only need one sheet of paper to reject you. Tell your husband to hurry home lol. I know the wait is killing you

I am applying for the Fall 2011 ADN Program at our local college. I am taking the TEAS next Wednesday - wish me good luck, please! :)

As for classes, I only have four (non-nursing) classes to complete: A&P I, A&P II, Microbiology, and Math 120. I plan to take A&P I and Math 120 this summer. Therefore, I will only have to take the other two during the actual nursing classes.

I hope we all make it into our respective programs and we can share our frustrations and excitement along the way!!

How are you able to apply and take a TEAS test when you havent done the bulk of nursing pre-reqs yet? The BIG 3 Sciences! lol

sounds like her program doesnt consider them to be pre reqs..sounds like they are co reqs.

the program im applying to has micro/ap as pre reqs but starting next year micro will be a co req so you dont need it done before you apply.

WOW....interesting

All the ADN programs in my state have the big 3 as pre-reqs at the bare minimum.

BSN programs want o-chem as an additional req, as well as some upper level crit. thinking classes.

Well good luck to everyone!

as for me, I am applying this fall!

one of the best ADN programs in my area only requires you to be enrolled in A/p and a math class in order to be eligble to apply for admission. they do this because they only admit once a year in the fall and applications are due by the Nov prior to the next start date..so you have another semester to get the rest of your co reqs completed. You have to pass AP and the math class though for your application to actually go through otherwise you have to wait a whole other year to apply.

Um lol. Here you also can't have anything in progress and yes, most programs don't accept people twice a year. Just for the fall. So people wait years to get in. I think its smart to have actual pre-reqs before admission, especially since you weed out most of the un serious/immature people that typically apply, thinking they can handle it.

I got in!!!!! Doing a dance as we speak!

Our program considers them co-reqs here. Actually, they accept students into the program who are still taking English 101.

Our school accepts nursing students in the Fall and Spring semesters. Only 40 students get in and you have to get at least a 73 on the TEAS, have a 2.5 GPA, and complete the checklist.

Congrats all :) I also start my adn this fall.
