Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I wanted to start a thread for those of you who have or will apply to ADN programs for the Fall 2011 semester. I have started the process but I have completed my application yet. I am nervous and super stressed. Join this thread so we can vent together. Share our journeys into nursing school.

Oh wow! This is really neat! A new support group. I am doing some pre-reqs right now and I'll soon be going to CNA school in May, but come August - I'll be going to nursing school! Geesh. Now I'm a little nervous... Anyway, good luck everyone!

I picked up some new reading material today, my Microbiology Text Book and my Spanish Text Book.... :-) I am gonna start reading my Micro book tonight. I am also going to fill out another NS appilcation and hope like crazy I get an acceptance letter.

Has any one else started getting stuff together for next semester???

I had to make a mad dash to register for my CNA class. It was crazy! They didnt have my books which pd me off!

Specializes in Family Nurse Practitioner.

I was able to order my books a month ago. Good luck with Micro interesting class, not an easy A.

Yeah I was intimidated a little by the book... I am trying to get a head start... I am gonna work my butt off though.

I didn't want to purchase my books until after the first class. I made that mistake last semester and wound up with books I didn't really need and I bought a used book that came without a code i needed for extra points. So this time I'm waiting but I checked out a couple of older texts from the library just to get an idea about what we'd be doing. Micro is a little intimidating. I'm also taking A&P 2. I already have the book for that from A&P 1. I think I might start reading a little in it tomorrow, so I can get a little jump on it. We start back on Monday 1/10.

Microbiology is not that hard. Our teacher was great and made outlines for us. If you can succeed in the lab you can def. Easily pass the class.

I found Micro to be easy as well. My class was half online and half-lecture. We did all of our tests online and went into lab once a week. The final was identifying the unknown bacteria by running tests on it that we'd learned.

I took AP 2, Algebra and Micro last semester and got A's in Micro and Algebra and a B in AP 2.

Really need to vent....

It took me 3 years to get back in school again since I quit the first time. Everything was going great. My mom was letting me use her car to drive to school, she was watching my daughter while I was in school, and I was actually doing well (3.6 GPA). But I guess all good things come to an end....

First, I went to get my books on Tuesday and they said that I didn't have enough financial aid to cover that :( I would have to pick up an extra class in order to have enough "overflow" to pay for books. Second, my mom was like "I am not going to watch Vann while you are at school" (2 days before school starts!!!). So if I plan on going to school this semester, I would have to find a babysitter (hard to do when you are unemployed and can't find a job), make a decision before tomorrow so I can either withdraw from class or pick up another class. I am so stressed out and I have no idea what I am going to do. I am going to do some pray tonight and hopefully things will work out. And on top of that, a pipe busted in my house so I also have to deal with that tomorrow! Super Stressed Right Now

I'm sorry to hear that. I know far to well what it is like to not have anyone to watch my children. It feels like the worlds against you but you have to be strong.

Thanks!!!

I have had time to calm down and I think my back up plan is going to come into play now. If I sit out this semester, I definitely will not be ready for nursing school. But I still have the LPN program. I figure that if I sit out this semester, I can find work as a nursing assistant and work until the summer. Then maybe by then I will have enough to get child care and go to summer school to take Basic Antaomy & Physiology for the LPN program and start the Fall 2011.

Its only a tentative plan just in case I need it. I am still praying that God will give me all that I need.

Keep praying he will give you what is right for you. You can also take it as him giving you more time with your child before your thrown into the crazy nursing school world. God knows our kids are only little once. And every moment counts. I'm torn apart leaving my kids but my husband and I know it's for the best.

Have you looked into childcare on campus? Our school has it but they have to be 3.
