ADN Fall 2011 Hopefuls!!!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I wanted to start a thread for those of you who have or will apply to ADN programs for the Fall 2011 semester. I have started the process but I have completed my application yet. I am nervous and super stressed. Join this thread so we can vent together. Share our journeys into nursing school.

I hate to crash your board...I'm a summer 2011 hopeful! (The school I've applied to accepts students 3 times a year.) Its a very competitive program that only accepts between 30 and 40 students a semester, 140 students overall for the entire school.

I applied to the spring 2011 and was placed on a waitlist(which means I could still hear last minute if a spot opens for that) being placed on the waitlist automatically places me back into the application round for the next semester. So I'm ever so impatiently waiting to hear if I've gotten in for the summer class! I will know on or before the 15th of this month.

My school looks at everything as a whole...science grades,SAT,TEAS, and if you have a degree in another feild. Which I don't and I feel that's the one thing hurting me.

These are my grades

A&P I- B

A&P II- A

Micro- A

80% on TEAS

3.8 GPA

Specializes in Neuro, Geriatrics, Progressive Care.

Welcome to the thread Bonny and Melissa! Good luck to you both. We are glad to see you here

Specializes in Lactation.
I was accepted to one of the programs I applied for today

Congrats!!!

I got my nclex review book yesterday! I already started reading it..so exciting!! Im now looking at pocket guides to use in clinicals. I cant wait to find out if I got in or not..but I have a long wait..sometime in May!!!

If Im not accepted I'll have to decide whether to accept my placement in the LPN program or apply again for the RN....not sure what I'll do!!

Sounds like we are in the same boat. :-) I hope that you get in the RN Program....

So you want to be a CNM? Are you wanting to work in a hosp or independent birthing center?

Hope we get to talk some more,

Carla

i have a question.... if i decide to goto chamberlain college of nursing.. will i have trouble getting into grad school? i hear alot of bad things about devry and my ultimate goal is to get into a good CRNA or Nurse Practitioner program. thanks!

I would love to be a CNM and work in a hospital....kind of promote midwives to those who might be unaware of them...help the image grow by constant contact with the community. The only problem is my state-and community- are not pro midwife..they are still behind on the times..its the exception not the rule that a woman would see a midwife for anything...the closest practice w/midwifes is over an hour from my house  Im hoping by the time I can actually attend a program that they will be looked upon more favorably in my area...if not then I want to become a Family Nurse Practitioner and specialize in children or womens health....I could become a Womens Health NP...but then I'd limit myself is what I've been told.

Specializes in Mother Baby.

I just finished the last of my prereqs this semester and I finished the application so now I am just waiting for the decision. I think that waiting is actually more stressful than taking the classes!

I agree waiting sucks! But definitely life changing news when you get it.

Ive been looking at stethoscopes and have mine picked out!! I need to see if we are allowed to buy them on our own or through the school..i know our uniforms have to be bought through the school.

I purchased a watch a couple weeks ago.

Been looking at shoes..but I need to try some on..I want incredibly comfy supportive ones.

I have a running list on amazon for books that I want. :)

The school im applying to only has 30-35 spots open each semester...I found out that they have 80 applicants for the spring...and from what I can see there are at least 60 applicants for the fall..YIKES.

Im really buckling down on my TEAS V study guide..especially the math. I took the practice test and got a 70% on it..not good enough for me. My goal is to score at least a 90 on the TEAS V..i know I can do it if I really buckle down...but math is such a hard subject for me. I bought Algebra for dummies and Algebra for dummies workbook to help me out a bit...equations and fractions give me a run for my money.

I do know that the school requires a 58% to pass on the TEAS V...and hardly anyone was making it..so I hope that if I can get a very high score it will go a long way to ensuring my acceptance.
