I wanted to start a thread for those of you who have or will apply to ADN programs for the Fall 2011 semester. I have started the process but I have completed my application yet. I am nervous and super stressed. Join this thread so we can vent together. Share our journeys into nursing school.
@ studentnursect & CNM2B201?
I have also gotten accepted to my program for Fall 2011 (still need acceptance letter in hand but advisor told me via phone last week...anyway) I bought my Littmann off e-bay years ago. I find it was cheaper. Please buy a good stethoscope, believe me it makes a difference and they last a long time, so its worth the investment. You cannot hear as good w/the cheap ones. Now I could not afford to buy the top of the line Littmann, but I did pretty good. As far as comfortable shoes..... good luck!! ha..ha.. Every nurse/student in america is looking for those! I have worked in the ER as a tech for the past 11 years....I have had nike (walking & running, the running are lighter and work pretty good), new balance (just bought those this week, we'll see...), nurse mates, birkenstocks, Birkis, clogs, footprints, danskos (these are really good)....I'm sure i've tried others...lol. After 12 hours on night shift (or days) on your feet, the best thing I can recommend is a good foot soak! Put rubbing alcohol in the water,it will help w/the achy legs and feet hurting! Good luck on your journey!!!
PS: This was suggested form someone on another board who is currently in her first year of nursing school:
"Fundamentals for Success" and any other NCLEX style book that gave a rationale as to why answers were wrong"
I'm going to invest in this. Any nurse will tell you that you must have critical thinking skills to pass school. It's not always about the right or wrong answer, but the best, just like the best course of treatment for the patient. I'm terrified about starting school, but I think if I can change my thinking I will do ok???? ***biting nails***

I've got my eye on a Light weight Littmann..cant wait to actual purchase it!! I'm holding off for a bit though.
I bought Saunder's comprehensive nclex review book, searching through old posts it seems to be a top pick for a lot of the student nurses/nurses to help get your mind ready for Nclex style of questions.
congrats on getting accepted!

Congrats!!
I always wear good running shoes they are the only I can wear. I also wear orthotics so I wear running shoes with everything.
Do you have a IBSN for that book?
I've got a chemistry final in the morning, then I have to take my Anatomy and physiology final on Thursday. I was suppose to have it this morning but my son was sick and when I called his ped they said to take him to the ER. It tuned out to be strep. I'm trying to decide whether I can handle taking micro and A&P2 together next semester. Our entrance is on a point system. I need all the points I can get! I've taken the TEAS V and scored an82% adjusted,93 national percentile. I'm hoping to take it again and score a little higher this spring. I'm so sick of stressing over nursing school! I can't wait till Xmas break...bet I spend it stressing anyway, especially when everyone at family functions always asks about school. Oh well...I'm just going to keep humming "jingle bells" and try to keep the bah humbugs at bay ; )
Mercy School of Nursinf in Charlotte,NC. We are waiting on our letters now(we will have them by the end of the week). We have applied for the summer of 2011. The school we've applied to accepts applications 3 times a year but its very competetive. MSON only takes between 30-40 a semester. They only have a total of 140 students in the entire school. What about you?
@studentnursect

I say that anything that will give you that extra step, do it. I know I have a few things I want but funds are really low...Christmas time. But I will make a list for my birthday and mother's day! All in May. And with the decision about nursing school coming also, I hoping for a wonderful month of May!
