@ studentnursect & CNM2B201?
I have also gotten accepted to my program for Fall 2011 (still need acceptance letter in hand but advisor told me via phone last week...anyway) I bought my Littmann off e-bay years ago. I find it was cheaper. Please buy a good stethoscope, believe me it makes a difference and they last a long time, so its worth the investment. You cannot hear as good w/the cheap ones. Now I could not afford to buy the top of the line Littmann, but I did pretty good. As far as comfortable shoes..... good luck!! ha..ha.. Every nurse/student in america is looking for those! I have worked in the ER as a tech for the past 11 years....I have had nike (walking & running, the running are lighter and work pretty good), new balance (just bought those this week, we'll see...), nurse mates, birkenstocks, Birkis, clogs, footprints, danskos (these are really good)....I'm sure i've tried others...lol. After 12 hours on night shift (or days) on your feet, the best thing I can recommend is a good foot soak! Put rubbing alcohol in the water,it will help w/the achy legs and feet hurting! Good luck on your journey!!!
PS: This was suggested form someone on another board who is currently in her first year of nursing school:
"Fundamentals for Success" and any other NCLEX style book that gave a rationale as to why answers were wrong"
I'm going to invest in this. Any nurse will tell you that you must have critical thinking skills to pass school. It's not always about the right or wrong answer, but the best, just like the best course of treatment for the patient. I'm terrified about starting school, but I think if I can change my thinking I will do ok???? ***biting nails***
