    Charity fall 2011 aplicants

Well bad news, after not receiveg my acceptance packet after a week, and speaking with someone for two days, someone else finally called me back and told me it was an error. That Delgado had not entered all of my college course work from my previous degree, which brought my GPA back down and brought my overall profile score down. So :( Congratulations to those who will be attending! :)

    ADN Fall 2011 Hopefuls!!!

@ studentnursect & CNM2B201? I have also gotten accepted to my program for Fall 2011 (still need acceptance letter in hand but advisor told me via phone last week...anyway) I bought my Littmann off e-bay years ago. I find it was cheaper. Please buy a good stethoscope, believe me it makes a difference and they last a long time, so its worth the investment. You cannot hear as good w/the cheap ones. Now I could not afford to buy the top of the line Littmann, but I did pretty good. As far as comfortable shoes..... good luck!! ha..ha.. Every nurse/student in america is looking for those! I have worked in the ER as a tech for the past 11 years....I have had nike (walking & running, the running are lighter and work pretty good), new balance (just bought those this week, we'll see...), nurse mates, birkenstocks, Birkis, clogs, footprints, danskos (these are really good)....I'm sure i've tried others...lol. After 12 hours on night shift (or days) on your feet, the best thing I can recommend is a good foot soak! Put rubbing alcohol in the water,it will help w/the achy legs and feet hurting! Good luck on your journey!!! PS: This was suggested form someone on another board who is currently in her first year of nursing school: "Fundamentals for Success" and any other NCLEX style book that gave a rationale as to why answers were wrong" I'm going to invest in this. Any nurse will tell you that you must have critical thinking skills to pass school. It's not always about the right or wrong answer, but the best, just like the best course of treatment for the patient. I'm terrified about starting school, but I think if I can change my thinking I will do ok???? ***biting nails***

Should I take Anatomy and physiology 2 and microbiology together?

I think it depends you what you can handle, period! School comes easy for some & not so easy for others (like myself....lol) I would never recommend taking any 2 sciences together. It is very difficult and a lot of memorization. Also, do you go to school on a quarter system or a semester system? Instructor's pay a huge role in your success as well. We all are adults and have to be responsible for our own success, but the way information is presented and a teachers commitment to see students do well plays a huge role also. I wanted to "hurry" and get done. Well that "hurry" hurt me in the long run. When I took A&PI 4 yrs ago, I took it 3 times (Drop, then failed, then passed) on the quarter system and only passed w/a "C". I decided to change to another school that was on a semester system, did much better, and had the most wonderful teacher. Either you know it or you don't! But she was there when we had questions and explained it in a way that we understood it. I got an "A" in A&P II lab & a "B" in A&P II lec. Had a different instructor for Microbiology and got an "A" in lab & "B" in Lec (I am a better hands on learner). I already have a degree in Psychology & work full time in the ER. Not working was not an option for me. It has been along hard road for many of us to get to the "application process"!! Keep pursuing your Nursing dreams!!!!

Anyone applying to Charity for Fall 2011???

I called today & they calculated my GPA incorrectly (actually Delgado had 2 missing classes from transcript that transferred in), so she did my profile score right over the phone & it was 55!!! I'm accepted!!! WOOHOOO!!!!!!!!!!! What I was told is that the number of applications was overwhelming. The advisor was very helpful & called me back later this afternoon after leaving a message for her this morning. She apologized for the error. I would tell your friend to call and leave a message or e-mail an advisor. Please tell her not to give up!!!

Thank you all for replying to my post, I took your advice & guess what?????? They calculated my GPA incorrectly (actually Delgado had 2 missing classes from transcript that transferred in), so she did my profile score right over the phone & it was 55!!! I'm accepted!!! WOOHOOO!!!!!!!!!!! (I still have to call delgado to check on 1 class CNS said delgado did not transfer in & I will have to take before school starts, but I took it 20 yrs ago from my degree, so we will work it out)!! I don't care, I'm accepted!!!!!!!!! I would not have questioned it if I had not read everyone's responses here about the mistakes, nor would I have believed so many errors occured, (THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO POSTED YOUR EXPERIENCES) but I am here to tell you, call to have them help you re-check your profile score. They are very helpful!! Now, I'm scared. Only my friends & family have an idea how much effort I have put into this for the past few years applying to get into school. My Sciences were on the 5yr time limit as of 2011. I am just over 40yrs old & thought I will collect medicare before I get into school! LOL.... I actually cried!! Go figure it would ever happen. I didn't have a plan B, so this is all I wanted! Don't give up!!!

    Charity School of Nursing 2011

I turned in my information by the deadline for fall 2011 & was told depending on how many students they can accept, they start w/the highest profile score & work down. Every year the budget has been getting cut, so that means less teachers, so less students that they can accept even though they are qualified. Since turning in my info, I have not heard anything. I am not sure what GPA they came up w/for me.... I have a degree in Psychology, scored an 77 on the TEAS, got a "C" in A&P I, an "A/B" in A&P II & an "A/B" in Microbology. This was the first time I applied to this program. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks! :)
