Charity SON Fall 2012
What are y'all talking about? Therapeutic communication? Ethics? I would suggest alot of practice questions from the fundamental success book. I was terrified as well for the first test and got a 76 and was devastated some people got wayyy lower than me like 40s so no worry the first test is a chocker and then you realize the way you have to study and the amount.

Charity SON Fall 2012
i think it comes with 2 sterile field packets which is like to clean sterile wounds so basically one is to practice and the other one the instructor is watching you do it like putting on sterile gloves picking up instruments from the sterile field cleaning a sterile wound so if you do it right she will check you off on that skill if not you have to go another day and do it i think u have 3 chances after that I think they drop you from the class but dont worry i was nervous the first time but its no big deal. You will have check off throughout the semester like counting respiration, pulse, blood pressure and the teacher will listen with you to the beats she counts and you count and the count has to be withing 2-4 difference if you get 65 beats and instructor gets 72 theyll late you do it again 3 different times and with all check off thats your chances if not u know what happens. I had to do it again it happens to everyone depending on instructor how picky they are mine was very picky some instructors were not so much. U also have check offs for taking temperature, giving shots med administration ect........

I never bought those ebook I thought that was a waste of money some ppl that bought it stop using it after the first month. The nurse PAC its always can be like from 60 to 80 that's the price range. I would worry about no ebook that's stuff it's easy to use I would worry about reading the recommend reading before school starts and practicing some skills checks off that they will do like wound care, giving shots I can't remember to much lol yea parking it's crazy the first week plan getting really early to school because finding parking it's a true headache

Charity SON Fall 2012
oh i dont know what thats gonna be like that sounds like alot I already can handle more then 1 class plus clinicals i mean we are in class for basics 4 hours two days a week and 6 hours 2x a week and then pharm another day. PHarmacology was awesome because we had a great instructor easy A but she retired my semester. I heard last semester many basics students failed pharm and that has never happen i guess thats why they want to break it down into 2 semesters. I mean you really have to know your meds and some students just study for the test and then flush but it comes back in other level non pharm test. I would recommed the saunders nlcex review book its awesome i wish i had it for basics!!!

Yea they start a new curriculum this semester for the new class. However how different can it be? Nursing is nursing is the same science same applications. You need a 77 to pass anything under that even if its 76.9999999 wont do it. Once you fall behind its hard to get in track however i know few people that have done it twice i Dont know if they gonna be able to do it for pcn bc its 8 intense weeks. I was so dipressed for by first semester because its totally a new everything. I failed my first test by a point and i have never failed a test in my life so that was a slap in the face, later you find out that failing a test is kind of common and you can get better if you try and study hard. The only fun part is being at the hospital. But charity will give you a good education i know lSU nurses at the unit i work that when they first started they didnt know how to use an insulin pen and i given so many shots on the insulin pen that I couldnt beleive it. youll get the education to be on the floor with no problem.Unlike our friends across the street. lol

Hi buying the med surg book is a most you have to read that and also the Saunders nclex book it's great. Definetely read whatever they recommend. Know your AbC ect most of the questions on the exam are related to that specially the first exam.

At orientation there's like 250 people just like you they don't check to see if you have the book they gonna give u a packet that talks about ethic codes. Well third level u have the pharmacology exam first week and then PCn exam the second week. Nursing school is no joke people drop like flies that's why u have to study ahead of time.

Charity SON Fall 2012
Hi all the tables are labeled with your class section number and youll be seating with your clinical book. Dont waste your money on buying that ethic book they ask for it every semester and never use it. Orientation is kind of exhausting because your their the whole day and they tell you a bunch of information about parking the rules of the school blah blah. Everyone was nervous and anxious you could definitely felt the tension in the room is normal to be nervous ;-) Enjoy it and if they give the pages to read before school starts read it helps alot. Im on level 3 and am reading before school starts to get ahead on the first exam which is the 2nd week of school for us.

The test questions are not easythat's why it's call critical thinking and that's why thy have such a high passing rate on the nclex. Some questions don't make any since that's why you can contest but most of it requires you to know the material 100 percent or even if you know it you can't answer without some critical thinking. Most of the instructors are really nice and teach you tons there's some that are lazy but its like that at any school.
