Accepted FSCJ Summer 2010 Students

U.S.A. Florida

Hey everybody!

I just wanted to start a separate thread regarding our acceptance into the FSCJ (a.k.a. FCCJ) Summer 2010 "RN" program. I know we've all been posting to the "hopefuls" page but now that we aren't "hopefuls" anymore, and we're more like "stressfuls"... I thought I'd start a new page... JOIN ME! :)

I guess it is technically called something else other than "RN program" but... here we go anyway.

I'm still a bit confused as to whether, during orientation, I should be more focused on getting a hospital close to my house or a teacher that will be great during my first term.

Does anyone have any suggestions on this? I've always made the teacher my first priority but I'm curious as to whether or not, those of you who have been there, think that there is a big enough difference in teachers that we would be wise to drive for miles to get to a specific one.

Does anyone know what time classes usually begin and end? Trying to get a schedule figured out for dropping my daughter off at daycare, leaving the house ,clinicals , etc. I'm one of those like to have things planned mind of people lol

I have been trying to figure that out myself. I need to know for work purposes. Hopefully we'll get some idea of scheduling at orientation.

Yeah, I guess that's the good thing about orientation being so early this year, we'll have over a month to sort out our schedules and prepare.

I'll be turning in my paperwork this afternoon, probably around 3:00 (when do they close anyway?)

I saw something in the packet about needing a FSCJ photo id. Do we need that by today, or just before we start classes?

Not really sure about the FSCJ ID, but I have a feeling that is what the glossy picture is for, but I could be wrong. As an aside, there is an excellent article on this site called "Dear Clinical Student" which really opened my eyes to what may be expected during our clinicals. I think it's a must read for any new nursing student.

I may be beating a dead horse but are we going to try to meet this weekend? It would be nice to meet my fellow classmates and posters. If so when and where?

You have to go to the office across from the cafeteria and the Worksource office to get your picture made for an ID. Has anyone thought of getting worksource?

pretty sure you can get the school ID in any campus if thats the one they're talking about.

I only have my old FCCJ ID, instead of the new updated FSCJ ID.

In South Campus, I know you can get the ID in one of the rooms above the cafeteria. That's where I'll go.

As for the meeting up, I think I'll pass. I'll feel out of place being the only guy and being the youngest, lol.

I probably won't be able to meet up this weekend, but possibly could next weekend if anyone wants to.

Answers :

Classes are usually 9-12, 1-4, and 7(for clinicals)/8(lecture - first 7 weeks) - 1

ID is your student ID, if you already have the new FSCJ one you are good. The glossy is your passport photo.

I went to the gym - yuck! The two crosstrainers had so much dust and debris around and under them - you may need a HAZMAT suit! Outside area was nice, track, running path, obstacles...Forgot to check out the showers but found out we can get massages for $5.00... nice!

235 is upstairs in the same bldg as the cafeteria (easy to find).

:)

I would like to meet, I am days and live off Kernan.

Is the track and stuff open to everybody?

Also, is there a student lounge area with TV and games and stuff?

I really meant gym

I went to the one at South campus when I could. There is one at Deerwood too. There should be one at North Campus. :) I am hoping it is open at 7am. Workout before class anyone????

I absolutely would be down for working out before class however I don't think they have a gym. I looked at the map and don't see a "fitness center" listed. I've been to the one at Deerwood (its really nice!) but not South.

I went and dropped off my stuff and got my ID done today. If you paid the $15 when you applied at FSCJ then that covers the payment for the ID. Go to your artemis account, click on finances, then "view obligations". If the $15 amount is paid (will have 0.00 due) print out that page and take it with you. They need that to take your picture and give you your ID. If you get financial aid, it would have covered the $15 fee and your amount due should be $0.

I spoke to a girl when I dropped off my papers (she was just passing by in the hall) and she is currently in her first term. Even though the list in the hallway had only 8 sections, she said there was more than that (at least for spring term there were). She also said that their testing day is on Mondays 3pm-5pm and everybody, regardless of what section you are in has to come in to take tests every monday during those times. I was curious about time because I'll need to make arrangements for someone to pick my daughter up from school if I'll be in class.

She said that other than Mondays for testing, she doesn't have any class past 1:30 BUT it may be different for Summer term.

OH, and it was nice to see you again hjhd!

I'd be down for meeting up over the weekend but I live in Mandarin so it depends on how far out of the way it is... I have a ton of school work due.
