Accelerated BSN program NYU Fall 2011

Published

Hi hopeful Fall 2011 NYU students!

I recently submitted my application for the accelerated BNS program. I saw that other semesters had discussions and I thought it would be nice to start one for us, just to help each other out through the application process.

I looked at past ones when I was filling out my application and found them to be helpful, so hopefully it will be for us.

Love to see who all is applying and how it's going:)

It says they are giving me $22000 for the year (Fall 2011 and Spring 2012). Thats nothing when it breaks down to only $11,000 for each semester and semester costs $18,000. I would be short $7000 a semester not counting another $18k for the summer (since financial aid doesnt cover the summer). ...But we do get to apply for fin aid again for Fall 2012. So Im hoping thatll mean atleast another $11,000 for The last semester.

Honestly the summer is whats scaring me. Whos going to give me a loan for almost $20k???!

If I break it down to semesters though it seems doable but its still a butt load of money. Anyone have any good private loan info they wouldnt mind sharing?

Thanks for the info! Of that 22,000 is it all from federal loans? Or, does NYU give their students some free grants too?

The NYU College of Nursing does give out grants. I received $5000 in scholarship/grant money, from NYU for the 2011- 2012 year. Since EmEmJay shared, just to give everybody an idea of what financial packages are being given.

In total i was offered $27,900 (13,950/semester).

$5,000 scholarship/grants from NYU (2,500 per semester Fall/Spring).

ESTIMATED $5,000 (2.5k / semester) grant from NY State TAP. (This most likely will be ALOT less since parent's income is a factor in how much $ you received.)

3,000 (1.5k/semester) work study...

Rest = loans.

Im currently trying to research private loans/scholarships/grants etc...

Hey guys! Isn't Friday Good Friday? I don't think they're opened. I. Know Cuny schools aren't. So maybe tomorrow?

Hey everybody,

My transcripts have been checked off for a while. As for admissions going in alphabetical order for decisions, my last name starts with an "S" as a lot of you already know, so I don't think they are doing that. I think they are just trying to get everyone's applications complete by making sure everything is collected, then they review the ones that are complete. And I am excited for tomorrow!!!! Hopefully, it will be a GREAT Friday! ;)

I received an email from *** from the NYU admissions saying that another round of acceptances will be sent out this Friday! Good luck everyone... :)

char2011, when you said AROUND the deadline..does that include a couple days after the deadline? I applied a couple days after the priority deadline.

Here's what the email said...

"We did send out our first round of decisions on Friday, but it was not all decisions for students that applied by March 1st. Please know that the "priority deadline" does not mean much; we do our best to get students who apply by March 1st a decision as soon as possible, but make no guarantees. "

Soo...not exactly positive what that means, except that the "priority deadline" doesn't really mean THAT much? Gahhhh...hope that helps a little!

Dude, I hope that I'll find out tomorrow. I know that I won't, but I am getting nervous now!!

NYU is open tomorrow. My friend that currently attends there confirmed with me yesterday. They are on finals week. Get ready for Pathophysiology all, she said that was the hardest class first semester.

And just FYI, I just received this e-mail from admissions regarding transcripts not being checked off on your Albert account:

"Sorry for the confusion, we do not update the application checklist for transfer students."

SO, I think that if your application no longer says "incomplete" and you are a transfer/second degree student, then your application is probably ready to be reviewed! That is what this admissions counselor told me anyway.

Well, hopefully, tomorrow will be a Good Friday for the batch that is accepted tomorrow. Good luck to those still semi-patiently waiting! Hope tomorrow is the day!:)
