interview questions for a family health center
Hi, I currently work in a family health center and the questions I was asked were also clinical, but they ask you in also to gauge whether or not you are trainable and you are a right fit for them. True, they do ask clinical skills, but I find that whenever they correct you, it isn't to be mean, but to also see how you handle pressure and criticism. Nursing is a learning process and you won't believe how many nurses I know personally who take offense to everything they are told to them when all managers and educators want to do is improve their nursing practice. I interviewed for a NYC hospital and I forgot some details in a clinical question and when she corrected me, I listened carefully so that way I can learn. For next time. And still, I was offered the position. And I just got hired in a major NYC hospital, in an area totally different to the area I am currently in- she had some doubts because of my background but she gave me a chance because I was a good fit for her. It is also important to understand these managers are people too and sometimes they are willing to teach you if you are the personality you are looking for and you know beforehand what you are getting yourself into.I want to agree with the above post too. It is important to prepare as much as possible for your interview. Learn about mission statements and what the hospital/ facility practices are, as well as what they are known for. Go over questions they may ask you and make sure you incorporate these statements into your answers. It took me about 2-3 interviews to really figure out what I was doing wrong. Be professional, smile and be kind and humble, don't be overenthusiastic and listen carefully. Hope all of this helps! I am just giving you how it has been like for me!

Westchester Medical Center
Hey ECRN, Were you actually interviewed? When I went, one of the managers just showed myself and four other women around the units but never actually interviewed any of us. I only saw the NICU interviewing individually. Has anyone gotten a call back? It seems like from the past experience, it takes roughly a week after the interview to hear back. Anything yet?

Recently Hired at HHC advice needed
Thanks so much for the heads up estrella! Sounds great! Even if the wait is long, I am looking forward to starting orientation. I know that at least, I got hired somewhere while I still search. Other people have told me that NCBH is a good hospital too. So, we shall see what happens this week!

North Shore LIJ
Yeah, LIJ is one of those places you need to keep applying. They always have openings but you need to remember you are competing with hundreds of applicants. A lot of it is a numbers game I believe. I am almost certain that there is only one or two sets of eyes in these recruitment places and they will not go over the 300+ applicants' resumes one by one, but I could be wrong. Anybody know?

Recently Hired at HHC advice needed
Hi lemoncookie, Yes, I am still interviewing! I like the unit at Harlem that is hiring me but the wait is very long. I am hanging in there. Any info on NCBH? How are you liking to work at HHC?

Recently Hired at HHC advice needed
hi estrella, Thanks so much for the response and sorry for taking so long to reply! I appreciate it! I also have another interview with North Central Bronx Hospital this coming week. Have you heard of that hospital? I hear it is not bad! And by the way, how are you liking Kings County? I really like the appeal of the HHC hospitals. They have excellent benefits and they are welcoming of new grads.

Recently Hired at HHC advice needed
Does anyone know how long does it truly take HHC to file all the paperwork from the moment of hire to orientation? I recently got the verbal hire at Harlem Hospital and I was reading it may take months before I get into the classroom? I am very concerned now. What do I do now? I am almost compelled to continue my search because the recruiter said that my unit wanted me to start the second orientation next month but I haven't gotten word yet of the physicals and all the other processing.
