ABSN Cal State San Marcos (CSUSM) Spring 2020

Updated:   Published

Just summited my application for the ABSN program at San Marcos for Spring 2020 last night! Thought I'd get a forum started for others who are applying as well instead of stalking all of the old forums. I took the TEAS a few days ago & am just waiting on some final transcripts to be sent to CSUSM.

In the orientation session I went to, they said it is possible to keep working, as long as you are able to adjust your schedule for that semester's rotations (though I know the official response is don't work).

I'm planning on working next semester, since we'll just be taking regular classes (and it looks like there are a couple different sections of each class), but I'll probably stop after that. My work schedule isn't very flexible.

I plan to work but my work schedule is also not flexible. I'm taking a CNA class starting in October, so I'm hoping I can land a flexible CNA job and quit my current job.

How do you know your application is now being considered for the Spring 2020 cohort? Did they send you some sort of confirmation?

I emailed an advisor asking if the Fall 2019 cohort was filled up and she said yes that semester was already filled out and that my application is good for one year without having to re-apply

Does anyone know how many semesters the cohort is? If we start in the spring, is it spring, summer, fall, spring, summer, fall?

I just called the extended learning admissions office to ask a few questions and they said we all should expect to hear back in October. Good luck everyone!

October feels so far away!!! From stalking the past message boards, it seems like the last two years the Spring cohorts have found out on September 18th.

Yes! I’ve heard they say October but we actually find out September

Hi! My evaluation total is 41 points; can’t wait to hear back in September!

Wow! That’s great!

When was your application marked “complete”? I’m still anxiously waiting for my evaluation!

Happy September y’all! Hopefully we find out this month!

May the odds be ever in your favor???

I have 32 points but could have done better on the TEAS. I was scoring around 80% on the practice tests and scored 80% on the actual test. Not sure if I should retake it or just wait to see if my score is good enough.

If you are set on the spring semester, I would study a little more and retake the TEAS. When you get your score they let you know what areas you need to work on specifically and that will help guide your studying. As soon as you get your new score, you can email the PDF to your advisor and they'll update your points (usually they are pretty quick to do this, sometimes the same day).

I have been waiting for September 18th ever since I read this about a month ago; I really hope we hear back tomorrow!
