A thread for those awaiting decisions...

Published

I just thought i'd make a thread for those that are eagerly awaiting to hear decisions from the applications they have made for 2009!

I applied to 7 schools for mostly direct entry MSN programs, i got rejected by one so far :( i hope it's not a trend that'll continue :/

Lets hear about which schools you all applied to! :)

Fab1, I was accepted too. Email me at [email protected]. I have a great suggestion for a place to stay for July orientation.

Well, I heard from one........... "your packet has been deferred to the fall admission meeting"............ huh?! I didn't want to wait until the fall......this particular school, I wanted to start this summer............

Still waiting on the other one.... its the one who is "hoping to let everyone know by April 15". It doesn't begin until the fall............ either way looks like I have a free summer.

HI! Which school deferred you to the Fall???

Congrats! Keep us updated on the others :-)

I just found out that I am on the waiting list for my school of choice: UIC. Anyone else hear from them? I am devastated. I don't have much faith that I will make it off the waitlist. I only have one other school that I have hope of going to and it is so much more expensive and farther to travel. Anyone have any experience with the UIC waitlist??

ice chick, I'm sorry to hear you're on the wait list at UIC (though the wait list is better than nothing). I applied to UIC this year and haven't heard back yet. I was on their wait list last year. They told me that being on the wait list is an accomplishment in and of itself - you wouldn't be on the waitlist if you weren't qualified for the program. Last year, they did not initially give us our positions on the wait list, but later they did (maybe a month later, after they had a better idea of who was coming, I think). I was a ways down on the list and didn't get a spot, but they do accept some people from the waitlist every year. Hope this helps, and hopefully you will be offered a spot in the end.

icechick,

I'm sorry to hear that you were waitlisted, but don't lose faith. At my interview, the director of the program really stressed that they DO use the waitlist, and they have called people on the waitlist to attend.

 Got an email from the last one.... said that they had intended on letting everyone know of acceptance or denial by 4/15, but they are having to move that deadline to 4/29.

:uhoh3: I don't know how much more waiting I can take!

Hi icechick,

Did you apply to the UIC graduate entry program? If so, what specialty did you apply to? I hadn't realized they were already sending out waitlist decisions. I just interviewed for the adult/geriatric specialty and they told us we probably wouldn't hear anything final until May.

Thanks for the info!

i saw that some here are wait-listed. when reading up on admissions for my daughter's college aps i read a great great book called the college hook. i think i remember it had a while chapter on strategies to "work the wait list" and things you can do. for example, if you continue to send them news of accomplishments that helps you stand out. i will certainly try to do this if i am waitlisted. am not even there yet. still haven't heard from 3 out of 4 of the schools i applied to :-( . still waaaiiiittiingg. it is getting a little ridiculous at this point!

icechick:

I was waitlisted for UIC last year and was ranked at #9. I received an acceptance letter around Sept, so there is still hope. :) (I decided to stay in my home state of Washington, but it's a great school!)

Thanks for the support. I hope they will let me know how far down the list I am. No, I applied to the regular BSN program, not the GEP. Does anyone know, once I find out what number I am , do they go straight down the list in order or do they pick and choose?
