  1. Hi, My husband's support has been extremely necessary as I work full time and our daughter just turned 5 years old. I have had little sleep and he edits papers for me....but I will say...I will lay down in bed with my daughter til 8:30 at night then stay up til midnight studying/writing papers/preparing for quiz, etc, etc...it's very rigorous! But I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! But I could not do it without my husband and hiring a nanny for a few hours on the weekends b/c you will need the time to write/read! Good luck! You can do it but I have to admit...without spousal total support it will be difficult..... Merry Christmas..I encourage you to continue forward as you will be so proud of yourself and so will your family (and patients!).
  2. Hi, Well, I started graduate school full-time. It is very rewarding but yet very difficult!!!! I am doing my best to enjoy my family but at the same time I love studying! It gets irritabing when I am trying to juggle ten things but my husband helps and my daughter is a dream (most of the time!)...but I won't try and paint a rosey picture...I wake up at 4:30 a.m....work full time...go to bed around midnight! But I will share a secret...as my friends talk about the joys of relaxing...I get a RUSH out of turning in a scholarly paper and I totally enjoy the discussions with my classmates/future colleagues. I realize I am only 4 months into the program...and I know I will have super bad days of total grouchy-ness...but I am also proud of myself...I love my family and my decision to go to graduate school did not mean I did not love being a full time mom...it simply meant that I can do both! My daughter and husband think I am awesome! go for it! P.S. I am sleep deprived...but I mean everything I said...tomorrow I might be angry at my husband..but in the end...I believe it will be worth it...learning is something everyone should continue to do for personal growth and development...
  3. excellent! I just ordered it! Thanks! Good luck to you! Patho starts in August for me. Are you doing an online or traditional program?
  4. That was funny! what book did you have that had a workbook? I may buy it even if it is not the book required...it sounds like it would be a great supplemental book! I can't wait to look back and think "I passed!"
  5. Hi! any new developments with your class? I bought this book called Patho Made Ridiculously Easy (amazon.com)and it really breaks down the information in an easy to understand manner. I wonder if you might find it helpful for your quizzes! good luck! I start online Patho in the Fall. Are you taking patho online or traditional classroom?
  6. yes, can I contact you on a private email address to get a copy of your practice questions also??? I think I will also keeps such notes and outlines for future students looking for information also. I am trying to figure out how to study and the difference between Adv Patho and undergraduate patho.
  7. It will be as hectic as we make it...our families will suffer if we go into it thinking they will suffer. Our families will survive and thrive if we do! Cheers to all the mommys taking the chance and going for it!
  8. Can anyone give some advance tips on Advanced Pathophysiology? Are we talking cellular level class memorization or clinical application/differential diagnosis? I have no idea what to expect. I graduated with BSN >15 years ago.
  9. Hi! congrats on your upcoming graduation! CAn you tell me about the online program??? Where do you live and how did you go about locating a preceptor? Did you use a PMHNP or can we use a psychiatrist? I know you are busy but if you get the chance I have specific questions..... Can I contact you on a private email address for specifics? Thanks so much!
  10. Hi! I was just accepted to an online MSN/NP Program. My daughter is 4 and I work full time. My husband has been supportive since the day I typed my Letter of Intent. I realize it will be difficult at times but why not go for it! I have heard from friends how they do not want to sacrifice their children and being home for family time. I felt as if I was being told my sacrifice is "selfish." I have heard them say..."the stress was not worth the balance in their families... " I have to agree...if it will be detrimental to their lives then of course, do not attempt such an endeavor...but I want to try and with the support of my husband and babysitter......I look forward to the late night studying! :) So I say! Go for it!
