A thread for those awaiting decisions...

Published

I just thought i'd make a thread for those that are eagerly awaiting to hear decisions from the applications they have made for 2009!

I applied to 7 schools for mostly direct entry MSN programs, i got rejected by one so far :( i hope it's not a trend that'll continue :/

Lets hear about which schools you all applied to! :)

I got my letter today!!! DNP program beginning Aug 09 at University of South Alabama!!!!

Got my letter Friday !!! BSN-DNP at USA :)

Specializes in ICU/CCU/MICU/SICU/CTICU.

YEYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guess I will see you the last week of July?!?!

Woohoo!!! Congrats!!!

Hm, my smilies dont work.

I got in!!! I couldn't wait for a letter and broke down and called the admissions office. They said I was admitted to CSU Dominguez Hills -Nurse Administrator option yesterday...My letter should be here in a week or so.

Yipeee

I got in too. All 4 schools! I can't believe it! I need to pick fast - but have a pretty good idea of which one I will choose. I am so relieved.

Like youknowwho above, I was persistent too. Even went so far as to email the department head. It seems these things take a lot longer to go through the whole process than one would think! But I found that they were not put off by someone contacting them in an assertive but appropriate manner. And it helped to move things along. The department administrative assistants too where a GREAT source of information.

Phew!

Good luck to those of you just starting this whole process! Hang in there.

After long months of disappointing and ego-deflating process, I get to say I got in too at last!

I never imagined it would be this hard to get into nursing school. I mean this gotta be harder than getting into some Harvard departments. But anyway, the wait is over, and it's great feeling

Congrats!!! See you in Alabama!!! :)

I'll try to pm you.

I will be at South Alabama in July also! I have been accepted into the BSN-DNP program!

Specializes in ICU/CCU/MICU/SICU/CTICU.

YEYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will have to make a point to seek each other out!!!! Well, we know that there are 3 of us going to South............lol Wonder how many were actually accepted.

help!!

so i have been accepted at a few schools and thought i had my mind made up about which np program i was choosing. but now i am finding myself sitting here with all the little acceptance/refusal response cards, unable to actually make my hands drop them in the mailbox.

i love the school i settled on, but they seem to be a bit disorganized about exactly what the periodicity and the sequence of courses is. they still have not sent me a packet with the program details and very little program info is available online. (two of my other schools have been very specific about details, sent giant packets and have tons on info online.) it seems that there are only 3 fall courses offered that i will be able to take that do not require pre-requisites. (i am verifying this.) also, i will have to arrange my own practicum experiences. this is the student's responsibility at this school (not at two of my others).

i am getting cold feet and very anxious since i cannot just keep these other schools (which seem way more organized and have all the required courses available/offered in the fall term) in my back pocket just in case.

i chose the school i did because of the low cost, local networking potential, geographical location, beautiful and safe® campus . all schools seem to have the same quality of their programs.

what would you do? could you live with the unknowns and ambiguity?

I don't think you should live with the unknowns yet. Some unknowns are ok but the lack of a clear class schedule for the program is a huge issue. The school should have that information available.

You may want to contact the school and see if you can talk with a current student. Then asked the student how the school's apparent disorganization affects the quality and experience of the program.

I was deciding between multiple schools and found talking with current students very helpful. The admissions office at all the schools were very willing to provide me with the contact information of students.

Good luck.
