I know Registered Nurses earn a pretty good salary. Is it true that hospitals start you off with a $50,000 or more ?
My base pay is around $60,000/year. Add in my shift diffs and I should pull in about $68K. I suppose that the area we live in is a little more expensive than others, but we've been living off my husbands salary for the past year alright, so I'm pretty happy. I wouldn't complain if I was offered a raise though
wow, i guess it really just depends on the hospital and state. i live in new jersey and they pay over $30. not hired yet, but hope to be when i graduate. it balances out to a more than comfortable lifestyle if you don't live in a rich neighborhood.
anyways, i suspect that no matter what you make- as a nurse you will NEVER feel overpaid a single day. I kind of feel like hospitals could never pay some nurses what they actually deserve. I have so much respect for nurses after what I see at my job.
And as far as directing the question towards "new grads", I'm going to be a senior this year, and so I know a lot of graduates, BSNs and ADNs- less than 50% are employed, not just this year but last year too. It's insane, but I'm sure that's old news to the forum. Which will probably result in MUCH lower starting salaries for new grads because everyoneee wants anything.
In Puerto Rico LPN $1500. month, RN new grads $2000. and BSN or experienced $2500 a month and in the metro area someone told me its a little bit more..
Im satified but We all want more right??
I live in NC and work nights. I had 2 years of experience as a LPN so they started me off making 22.23 an hour plus. $4 after 3pm and $6 after 11pm.
It would be more than enough if I didn't have credit cards balances. So for some my salary is more than enough and for some it would not be. It depends on how many bills you have. I think I make a good salary.

I made 51K my first year and I just hit my 3 year mark. I was only working 4 days a week, and overtime some weeks when it was available. It really depends on the area though- I've looked into relocating to a differnet state- and some states wanted me to take almost a $10/hr paycut.
