A friend bought her degree from the Philippines.

Ethical dilemma.

So I have a friend who I have known for a fact didn't go to nursing school in the Philippines because she was here in the United States working as a caregiver and mind you it takes 4 years to finish a bachelor's degree. She was taking this shady online classes and telling people that she's in nursing school. Now she miraculously applied for Florida license. Hence, she lives in Michigan and was approved to take the NCLEX. Of all the years I've known her, I have never seen her study or actually be enrolled in school. I am so upset as I worked so hard for my degree. I became an ADN first then went on to pursue my bachelor's degree. Now, she even have a private staffing agency that she poses as a graduate nurse. It baffles me to no end that a person could do all of these things and not bat an eyelash. I need an advice on what to do or should I just cut off all ties with her and let karma do their work. I never wished for anybody to fail NCLEX but in her case I hope she does. It's not safe, fair and for me, it undermines all the hard work nursing student does.

I was under impression that a person must be a student nurse in order to take pathophysiology. Some people already attended nursing school and didn't finish for some reasons. Just saying.?

Some schools do credit students when they have patho and pharm without USMLE in their hands.

Foreign-trained M.D. who passed USMLE but for one reason or another switched to nursing. It happens with much more people than usually thought of. In the wast majority of such cases, undergrad nursing programs accept all basic science classes, some core classes like terminology and electives, or allow to test out. People only take these classes if they want to improve grades or get 4.0 GPA for the future advanced degrees, as most highly ranked MSN/CRNA programs want grades high and fresh within 5 years or so. Otherwise, they only take "nursing" classes (research and other fluff) and all classes with practicums.

P.S. I bought not a single text book for either BSN or MSN. Skimmed through the stuff in the library, which took 15 to 30 min at a time, and that was that. So when the "responsible" and "watchful" lady got "concerned" that she never saw me studying, participating in groups, etc., she was kind of right. I studied very little as far as academics went. I already knew it all and then quite s bit.

As already mentioned, foreign educated nurses typically have more hoops to jump in gaining US licensure. If she's applying for a Florida license, her education must be evaluated by a third party entity such as CGFNS before getting her ATT. These companies know how to comb through fraudulent degrees.

The California cases other posters alluded to occurred because California does not rely on those third party credentials evaluation services and was in effect "double crossed" by a minority of applicants, not in a grand scale as it might have been publicized.

So pathophysiology is not required for all RN programs? Had no idea...

Pathophys was actually built into my first nursing course rather than a separate prerequisite
