Ok, no one has started this yet, so I guess I will. I start A&P I on January 18th, lab and lecture.

Here are a few good websites I have found...some are basic, some may be more indepth than your instructor asks for.....BUT it gives you a little more to look over before class starts next month! :) ....Never forget the website for your actual book too!!!!!!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU

Holy cow I just started A & P on Monday and it is a whollotta info in a short time. ANy one have good study tecniques with the bone processes?

Hi and welcome to all the new people! lol

As for studying the bone names, I think you pretty much just have to repeat them over and over pointing at pictures. If you can, find printable handouts on the internet that does not have the names listed, and one with the names listed. (or print two, and use your book to make a answer key.) Also, the first two or three posts on this thread have a few websites listed. I believe at least one of them have bone reviews.

So, basically, just quiz yourself over and over and over and over and over....see the pattern here? :chuckle

Good luck to everyone!!

That sounds like a lot of people I knew back when I was 18. I thought they were so much better than me because they got to go to popular and expensive schools and then moved far away. Most of them were back with in a year though due to bad grades and were either bumming around or attending the local CC. I couldn't help but think it was funny.

Yep, I knew a couple of "those types" as well. They were always saying things like, "When I go to A&M (or wherever)...." as if it was a really big deal. Next thing I knew, I saw a few of them registering for classes at the cc. When I asked about it, I found out they flunked out. OUCH!!!!

I went to Barnes & Nobles today to take a look at my book. I couldn't believe the price $145.00 or $154.00 I cant remember I just drew a blank!!!!!! Saladin Anatomy & Physiology!!!! Where can I get this book for a cheaper price? and the Lab book cost $89.00 ....This is ridiculous:crying2:

I went to the bookstore on campus and although I still feel it was way too much I was able to get my books used and saved $45 :). I still spent a lot but I got everything (required and suggested). I figured I need all the help I can get!

Best of luck on getting a good deal. I'd definetly shop around if you can.

Go to Bigwords.com and it will search all the online stores you can buy texts from new and used. I always seem to find Amazon as being the cheapest. I have gotten books from half.com and abebooks.com as well. Lots of resources out there where you can get your books much cheaper than at the school bookstore.

Hope this helps!

Try ebay or half.com. Amazon.com may have it also. Just watch the editions, you don't want to buy one that is old.

I always say that more people could afford to go to college, if they didn't have to buy the books!!

Check the web BUT read the descriptions very carefully!! I looked online- but the real cheapos were the wrong edition! They were lisited under the same ISBN as the new one :(

I could have gotten my text for $95 from amazon (used) but the bookstore had it for $105 (no shipping) & with all the extras like CD, human body atlas.

Check around at the school bookstores in your area for good used ones. Ours had a bunch!

BTW- I haven't cracked a book yet! We here in OK got a lot of nice ICE and kiddos missed 2 days of school- couldn't even get out of the driveway. Then last night a pipe burst, flooding my daughter's room:( anyway- plumber came this morning so at least we have water now. this weekend will be spent cleaning up and replacing the carpet. At least I have another week before class starts!

Hi, everyone!

I decided to get started last night by reading the first chapter of my A&P book - Marieb, 6th edition. Tonight I re-read it and took notes, and started doing the questions. It feels good to be learning again after being out of school for 15 years!! I think I'm going to be a better student than when I got my BS in civil engineering. Juggling family and household tasks with school is far easier than trying to date and have a social life like I did in college!! I'm planning on getting up before the kids each day for a few hours of study time, and then I can squeeze in a few hours while the little one naps. If I can stay awake, I can do more when they go to sleep at 8:00.

My classes begin January 18th, and I'm taking both A&P and Developmental Psych online. I'm still a bit concerned about taking an online class, but the "orientation" we had to take online seemed simple enough. Can anyone tell me how they do exams for an online class? Do you go to campus or take them online?

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

Beth

where are you getting the coloring books from and which one is best? My class is online and the syllabus and welcome letter mention nothing about coloring books.

Montessori Mommy-- I took two classes online last semester, biology and psych. Basically the way my classes work is we have quizzes every week and it's on the honor system. You really shouldn't use your books/notes. I mean you can, but it's only going to get you in the end when you have to take the midterm or final. We take our midterm and finals at testing centers that are set up in specific locations, so you just go to whichever one is closest to you.

It all depends on the class itself. On most "online" classes, you take your test online, however at my college, some are classified as "telecourse plus" where the class is online, but the test are in the testing center on campus. If you can get into the class' website, look around. Good luck! :)
