well, it's about time to start this thread, i think!! let's get our bearings and see who all is in the same boat in january!

i finish up the first half of a&p with a comprehensive exam on december 13th and then it's right into the physiology portion of the course. we actually are starting special senses this week and next but will only get the first chapter done.

so .... who else is in? when did you take a&p i and how is your course set up? do you have the prof you want and are you looking forward to it?

i will include the sites from the a&p i thread that might be helpful! i will add/subtract as i get a chance to look through them a bit more or if anyone else suggests some good sites.

~ karen ;-)

Got my lab grade back. I did not do as well as the lecture. I got an 86. I will take that considering how exhausted I was after taking the lecture and had to take the lab right after. That was tough for me. I am glad at the end I survived the ordeal. My next lab practical is March 1.

In my class we have four tests including the final and 2 lab practicals. We have one project this semester I think and a chance to do an extra credit report as well.

The tests are as follows: (Holes 10th)

Test 1: Chapters 13-14-15

Test 2: 16-17-18

Test 3: 19-20-21

Test 4 (Final): 22-23-24

Lab 1: 150 Veins and arteries by memory

Lab 2: TBD

So we really don't have a final exam that covers all the semester which is very nice.

I did it!!!!! Going into this week of midterms I was worried I was barely (or not even) going to pass A&P. Well, I took my lecture exam on Tuesday and got a 76%, I studied and would have like better. Yesterday I had my lab exam, and I got a 92%!!! This puts my overall A&P score at a 97%, an A on my school's scale! I never thought I'd carry an A in A&P, I hope I can maintain it!!

Also, my professor's requiring us to write a paper for A&P, anyone else have to do this?

Well, in my A&P I, we had to write a paper on the spcial senses (any aspect of it) because there wasn't enough time to get to that chapter. Otherwise, I haven't heard of writing a paper as a regular part of the class.

Hey, guys!! Sorry I've been so long gone! Nothing much new here. We have our midterm in one week -- everything from Chapter 1 back in September to now ...... should be interesting! We have covered up to non-specific immune responses now so that's what the exam will include up to. Our prof loves to thrown questions in that will disrupt our reverberating circuits lol. Wish me luck!!

The paper has to be 2-5 pages, on either an important ion of the body, or comparing two systems of the body, on all levels (ie, comparing the cells of the respiratory and cardio systems, comparing tissues of both systems, organs, etc). I decided to do my paper on calcium, and started on it today, as it's do in a couple weeks. If I get it done early, he'll read over it and tell me if I need to make any corrections. It's worth 30 points. :specs:

Keep up the excellent work! That "A" will look so pretty on your transcript.

We don't have to do a paper in my class. I'm happy about that :)

I took my first set of tests. 78% on the lecture and 68% on lab. Not bad. I know I'll do better the second time around. I didn't know what to expect and now I do.

Does anyone else have teachers that grade on spelling? I can't spell. :( That's what killed me on the lab practicle.

Also, my professor's requiring us to write a paper for A&P, anyone else have to do this?

Yep. I have to write 3 this semester. They aren't that bad. I did my first one already and got 25/25. I figured that she was an easy grade, but when half of my class was complaining about low grades I became rathe proud of myself. Below are our requirement.s

[color=#00bfff]i was nervous about getting graded on spelling too, because i am a horrible speller! spell check on word usually saves my butt, but lab exams are hand written. just had my first one last tuesday and the spelling wasn't a problem because i studied the words so much! maybe next time write the words out? i'm sure you did fabulous!!

[color=#00bfff]i have a lecture test about the heart this week and i'm so confused! does anybody have any tips or website that could help me out?

[color=#00bfff]happy monday- have a great week guys!

My teacher takes half off for misspelled words. But, if you spell the same word wrong over and over on one quiz/test she only take off for it the one time. What I always have to do is write the words a few times til I remember how to spell them. Good luck.

My lab teacher's policy on misspelled words is that we're allowed one mispelled word per test that will not be counted off. Our mispelling of this word cannot change the pronunciation of the word. All mistakes after the first one are half off.
