Okay, so am I the only one crazy enough to be taking this during the summer?:uhoh21:
I've been so excited to finally get to take part in one of these things.
Anyways, school starts June 6 here. I bought my texts Wednesday (Marieb: Text and Study Guide-6th Edition; Lab-Cat Version-8th edition), and am pretty comfortable with Chapter One. I love the website, although it looks like my Prof won't be using the "My Anatomy" stuff. boo.
Can't wait to get this thread rolling. How is everyone else feeling?
Hey well I'm just about to take my Anatomy cumulative final this week..Yikes!!! But overall it's been not an unpleasent experience. I think what it comes down to is the teacher. If they are good it does a world of difference. Well anyway the school i'm taking my prereqs at has a great website for all the bones, cat organs , arteries etc and Slides...Check it out it really helped me out for my lab practicals....Hope it helps......http://207.103.163.2/biology/
Thanks for this great website! I think it will help me alot!
I'm really ready to cry.
For the past 2 weeks plus, I have lived, breathed, ate, drank, slept A&P. I've used the book, study guide, lab manual, flash cards, web sites [especially the text's with the outlines and quizzes], past student's "book" they put together, coloring books, recorded lectures and transcribed them, everything...
Had my first test today and got an 84. My professor is definitely an "application" person, where you have to REALLY think about your answer--that's my problem, I kept thinking and thinking and changing my answer--because, in truth, any one of the answers to many could have been right.
I'm seriously stressed..I NEED an "A" to get into my dream nursing school. If this is the "easiest" test, where do I go from here?
Oh my goodness! You are now my inspiration. I didn't think it was possible for an A &P class to be more demanding than mine. How are you doing?
:chuckle Surprisingly very well! Before class began I was thinking "I'll be happy with a C. Im taking 30 weeks of A&P and condensing it to 10 weeks (I'm taking A&P I and II)." Now Im determined to get an A on my last A&PI test on Thursday. I can get an A for a final grade, which leaves me excited and anxious to start A&PII. So yea like I said Im doing great. If I can work fulltime, study, go to class, find time to spend with my fiance and daughter and pull off an A or high B, trust me when I say youll do fine. As long as you stay interested in the material and stay on top of everything you do.
PS Making flowcharts and index cards helped alot when studying for the test. When I did the endocrine system I made a flowchart, it showed what gland secreted what hormone and then what the hormone did. It made it a lot easier to understand.
LOTS OF LUCK TO YOU! If you need anything, let me know Ill try to help.

Peachy I truly know what you mean and the pressure is rising as I can see.
I say try taking A&P out of your system for a day or two, I know it sounds crazy having so much to do in such little time, but maybe you are having an A&P overdose hun
It has happened to me before where the pressure makes me study vigorously, then I find that I have overstudied and have a less desirable grade. Just try it and you will flush it out of your brain for a day or two, and when you resume back to your studies you will find that the mini "vacation" helps alot.
I wish you the best of luck.
Come back and post, to see how everything went. :)

That's so fabulous. I don't even know you and I'm proud of you. I have two children ages 21 months and 3.5 years and I'm pregnant with #3. My husband is out of the country for a month, but my mom is visiting to help out. I had a serious pity party going on in my head lol. I love to hear stories like yours though because they really inspire me and let me know that my dreams really are possible no matter how hard they may seem.

This looks like very good advice. I constantly quiz myself as I go through the book and study. I've found that when I'm tense and nervous I forget things that are pretty obvious, but when I just relax it really does come to me. I know these things are easier said than done, but with all the hard work that you have put in, I am sure that you *know* this information. Two things that I would do if I were in your positition (and I don't know, I may be back here after my first test this week with the exact same complaint) are try to find some relaxation techniques and focus on lots of positive self talk and talk to the teacher abotu ways you can improve your grade. Let your professor know how hard you've worked and how motivated you are to do well and ask what things you can do, to improve your grade etc. Most professors are more than happy to help, except mine I think.

Wow!! Thats a lot on your plate. Id go nuts with two kids Couldnt imagine three!! My daughter is going to be 2 in the beginning of August. That little cutie is my inspiration; I started school when she was 3 weeks. Stories like ours keep people going when it starts getting tough. Like tonight, I just got home from class and came to a web site for support :chuckle I just took my practical and oh my goodness it was hard
I dont want my grade back. This was the hardest of all tests and practicals we've had so far.
Three more days and its over (until next week)
PS Congrats on the baby! When are you due?
Hi everyone! I'm starting to think that condensing 30 weeks of A&P into 10 wasn't the brightest idea I've ever had. :uhoh21:
I need to vent for a minute so feel free to skip the next part!
My son is having some problems related to his prematurity, I'm getting very little sleep, my daughter's been a handful and has her summer activities, my husband is having problems at work, his truck just died and our money situation sucks. There's much more but I've complained enough. I'm incredibly fortunate to have what I do!
Anyway, we had our second of 4 tests last Thursday and I thought there was a good chance I failed. I've never felt that badly about a test before in my life! He gave us the tests back yesterday and I got a 28 out of 25 on the lab practical because he gave a few extra credit muscles, and an A on my exam! It was a low A, but I seriously was just praying for a C! I'm worried about our next test because my prof says this is the "mental hernia" part of the course. I thank God he's a good teacher!
Hope you're all doing well and staying sane!

Tiffany,
Hello to you too!! Everything will work out. You said you felt horrible after the test and got an A?!! Thats great, not that you felt horrible but that you got an A. Its funny that I felt the same way after my first two tests (last test of my 5 week A&PI class on Thursday ), and I did well on both of them. What is going on in our heads that makes us think we are not going to do well?
I think your car knows when you need it the most and when the most inconvenient time to break down is, and it waits for that time. Because I too may have a problem with my car. On my way to work this morning my ABS light came on. Now Ive never had a problem with my car, nor do I know what the ABS light is for; but I also dont have the finances for it to break at this time.
You think there may be a curse for those of us who try to condense 30 weeks of A&P into 10?
I wish you the best of luck with your class and hope the personal life gets better.
Let me know if it gets better for you.......

Thanks! :) I think ABS is your antilock break system... My father-in-law is an electrical engineer for Chrysler and says they often come on for no reason. Of course, that doesn't mean nothing is wrong though, so be careful! It's incredibly stressful knowing you can't fix it if it breaks, but can't be without it either! :uhoh21: I hope it's just one of those electrical flukes and not a true problem!
I think the reason I thought I did poorly was because the questions I missed were ones that I didn't remember covering at all. Usually I have at least some idea, but not in this case. I looked up a few things after the test and realized I'd missed them, so I figured I must have missed more, since there were 150 questions.
As for the personal stuff... We've been through some really stressful times, so this really isn't that bad. It's just frustrating trying to do everything with very little sleep!
I keep reminding myself that no matter how stressful things get, it's nothing like how we felt when we lost our son Aaron last March. Compared to that, everything else in my life seems pretty trivial. (Even if I don't always react as though it's nothing!)
I hope everything goes well for you!
