A&P I: The Summer '05 Anatomy and Physiology Club

Published

Okay, so am I the only one crazy enough to be taking this during the summer?:uhoh21:

I've been so excited to finally get to take part in one of these things.

Anyways, school starts June 6 here. I bought my texts Wednesday (Marieb: Text and Study Guide-6th Edition; Lab-Cat Version-8th edition), and am pretty comfortable with Chapter One. I love the website, although it looks like my Prof won't be using the "My Anatomy" stuff. boo.

Can't wait to get this thread rolling. How is everyone else feeling?

Specializes in PeriOp, ICU, PICU, NICU.
I took my first exam Tuesday. The class average was 62.6. My grade was 88!icon7.gif

I was very releived! The first test is always the scariest for me because your never sure what to expect.

Good Luck to Everyone Else!!

Way to goooooooooooooooooooo!!

I share the same feeling about the first exam, but then you learn the instructor's testing style which is usually good for the exams to come :)

I take my first lab practical tomorrow night and just about bit my nails off :rotfl:

I had my first test last Thursday.....I got a 96!! My first practical was last night. We thought he was giving us the "bones on the table around the room" practical, but we actually got a handout with three diagrams (that came straight from our book) that included a word bank. How much easier could he have made it? I was blessed with such a great professor. Test #2 is on Tuesday. I hope #2 grade is just as good as #1.

Congrats to every else that is doing well.

I think the key is to read every day. Even if its not a long study peroid just read each day to keep it fresh in your mind.

Awsome! congratulations on your grade :)

I took my 1st lab practical Friday. I scored a 98, and pleased as well. So far, this class has been going well and I am actually looking forward to A&P11.

Its funny you say that.....I was actually telling my fiance the same thing!! This class is not at all as bad as its been made to sound by other students (especially the ones who tell me "Ive taken this already and I had to drop. It was SOOO hard") But as for my test tomorrow, it may not be as good as the first one because I (as much as my daughter and I enjoyed it) accidentally "forgot" to study this weekend and put in a wonderful 2 days of family time. So we'll see what happens!!

Congrats on your grade as well!

Yes, I too heard stories. In my case, I really disliked Chem.

As for your test, you will be fine. Just try to study from now until then and you will be surprised. Come back and tell us how it went. :p

The best of luck to you my friend,

Jessica

:balloons: congrats on the great grades! :balloons: :D

i had a 92% on my first exam and 100% on my first practical. i messed up on my first exam, though, and actually filled in the wrong bubbles on 3 questions when i knew the answers. :imbar oh well. i have my next exam and lab practical on thursday and am nervous! it's over the integumentary system, bones, and muscles, and we need to know a ton of physiology in addition to the anatomy. i really want to get an a in this class! i didn't study as much as i wanted to this past weekend, either, because of some crazy things that were going on here. :uhoh21:

hope you're all doing well! have to go, the baby's crying... he's not been feeling well at all. :(

Hey yall,

I start A&P this summer. My classes don't start till July 6 so I am on my 4 week break. Spring just ended a week ago and I am really looking forward to A&P.

Thanks for the awesome link to the quizzes. I can't remember the name off the top of my head but that link will be at the top of my FAVES as soon as the quarter starts. I don't expect for it to be too hard. I am also taking English, PSY during summer too so I can't wait to see how interesting this summer will be. These are the final of my pre-reqs, I apply to enter the program till January and the program doesn't start till Summer Qtr so I need to find something to do between Fall, Winter and Spring Quarter. I thought about taking up Plebotomy in those months at another school just so I have something else to do.

I love hearing yall updates and everything.

Just wanted to pop in and say "Congrats" to everyone who made it through their first tests...and so well at that! :balloons:

Stressed here..our first test will be 6.5 chapters, and she didn't even cover the first two!! I feel so far behind already! And she (and past students) have made it clear that she doesn't go for straight-out questions--she goes for critical thinking/application.

I have so many study aides, i don't know where to start! :stone

Peachy,

I know exactly what you mean. If we have the same book, you can see how overly detailed and lengthy it is. In our class, we skim through it, the details and rest is on you. I bet you will do just fine :)

Somehow, the pressure build-up is necessary to succeed, and it seems like you have plenty of that going on now. We will see you posting the good news soon. :p

Good Luck,

Jessica

I'm sure you'll do well! I understand the stress, though! :uhoh21: Our second exam is Thursday and I don't feel ready for it at all! Well, off to study... :rotfl:

I am also taking this class this summer! My class is using the 6th ed. of Martini's textbook and the 8th ed. of Marieb's lab book. I just got finished with A&P I finally! I started A&P II yesterday. I know it's tough and it's hard doing it in the summer but it's worth it and everyone can do it!! I just remind myself that I'd rather do it all in a total of 8 weeks than two regular semesters of it! What really helps me get through is after every lecture, I come home and make flash cards of everything! Just keep positive and remember it's going to be worth it in the end! If God brings you to it, he'll bring you through it!

I took the test on Tuesday and passed with a B. It's the Excelsior test, and it's a 3 hour test. It was really hard. But, now I am done with A & P. I am glad I had the chance to do the class, and I certianly see how it will help with my next class = Microbiology. I just started it yesterday. Good luck everyone in your classes, I wish you the best

Kathy
