Hello Everyone,

Just A Quick Question Here. I Registered For A & P I For The Spring. I Am Also Taking A Developmental English Class Along With It. I Was Just Curious If Taking Another Non Science Course Would Be Too Much. I Have Not Had A Science Class Since High School (about 15 Yrs Ago). I Want To Get A Good Grade In The Class. The English Class I'm Not Worried About. I Wanted To Take A Psychology Or Computer Class. Do You Think It Will Be Too Much. I Will Not Be Working For Part Of The Semester. Which Is Why I Am Thinking Of Adding Additional Class To My Schedule. Any Input Would Be Great!

In my opinion if you're not strong in science then you should take 1 at a time. And at my school you can't take 2 at a time if you wanted too. But if and only if you think you can handle it I say go for it

taking another class while taking a&p is doable, even if you haven't had science in awhile. so long as you make time for study an stay dedicated to do well, you can get an a in the class. just don't fall behind in the reading

I'm going to be taking A&P 1 along with Microbiology and Dietary Nutrition at the same time, so I think you can do it. I am taking bio this semester (along with English) but I hadn't been in a science class in 20+ years and I love it! I took one to see how I would do and it might be better for you that way too, see for yourself, you can always take more later.

This is my first science class and I have been out of high school 20 years. I have been taking 2 classes at a time. I am taking the Biology and lab in the classroom to make sure I really understand it and am taking History on-line. So far I am doing good (a B in both). BUT I only work part-time so I have plenty of time for studies. I signed up for my next set of classes this week and I will take A & P (in class) and Lifespan Developement online. You could try 2 classes and if you feel like it's too much, you could drop the additional class. Good Luck! :twocents:

It all depends on your situation. Will you be working while in school? I hear you need to devote quite a bit of time to A & P. I am working full time and am only taking A & P 1 this spring so that I can devote as much time as possible to this one class. That being said I also have a 2 year old so didn't want to take a big courseload. I want to be able to have family time as well.

I was out of school for 10 years when I returned and took Chem along with a computer class and Gen Psych. I was working 32 hours a week and that was before I had my daughter. It was so tough. I'm not very strong in science either and know I would have failed if it wasn't for a very generous grading curve.

However if I wasn't working and wasn't a mom and could dedicate all my time to school then I would take as many classes at a time as I could as long as I could handle it.

Sorry this is such a non-answer but I guess what I'm trying to say is, it all depends on your personal situation....

Good luck and keep in touch! We'll be taking the class at the same time!!

Spring 2009 I'll be taking Psych, A&P1, Lifespan and a COMM class and working 20 or so hours a week. It's all about how you handle your time. If I don't stay busy or stressed I don't handle my time well. I think that you will do fine as long as A&P is your only science class though with only adding two other classes to your load. Good luck!

Spring I'm taking Anatomy, English (2nd semester/critical thinking) and Sociology (M-Th 9am-1:30pm). I will also be finishing up a CNA training course for the first month and a half of the semester, which is every night (M-F) from 4-8pm and once that is done I'll be working (very part time, hopefully) as a CNA. (oh, and I live 45 minutes from my school )

It'll be tough at first but I hope my obsessive organization/planning will help me get everything done and be successful in Anatomy.

Good Luck All

I have to say it is very doable. I am a mom of 2 toddlers and hadn't cracked a book in 10 years when I went back this fall. I am currently taking Chem, A&P1, Human Development, and Wellness with all "A"s going into the last part of the semester. The first part of the semester was tough. Figuring out what the professors expect from us and getting used to studying with 2 kids. Now I have found a balance and use the most of the time in school. I have a 2 hour break between classes on Monday and Wednesday and I use that time solely to A&P stuff. I have a very strict 8 o'clock bedtime for my boys and that gives me 2 hours a night for study or homework. If that isn't enough or if I have a big test coming up I get a babysitter for an afternoon so that I can study more. Other than that I just pick up where I can. It's all about figuring out your learning style and fitting that into your family. I can't say it is easy, but it definitely can be done. Best of luck.

thank you all for responding.... I am definately taking the A & P I and also taking an english class but i was thinking of taking medical terminology or a sociology class along with it. i have 2 kids and work full time. I am taking 3 classes right now which I am finally getting into the swing of things of how to time manage. but during the spring semester i get laid off for the winter so i was thinking that i could easily do a 3rd class with a and p. i just want to have the most time available for that class. and like i said i havent had a science class since high school but i always liked science. the only bad thing is that if i do take an additional class i cant drop it because of my financial aid. so i really want to make sure i can handle it. I will probably take the other class, the only thing is that i really dont need it for my rn but i would eventually need it for my bsn. Well thanks for the advice.
