The skeletal system will be my weekend project. I printed copies of the skull labs from my Holes lab book and I'm just going to do them over and over and over. Hopefully the bookstore has a good chart or flash cards. I'll be staying in this weekend. LOL.

Has anyone gained weight since starting these courses!? No time to cook a decent meal! (Off topic, sorry)

:)

There is a "Healthier Living Support Thread" going on in the Break Room. It is great and has helped me to keep on track. It's good to have other people to talk to in order to make yourself stay healthy (or attempt to get that way, in my case). ;) I started dieting about 3 months ago and the thread has helped me to stick with it - need to lose some lbs. so that I can be a competant nurse - running around completely winded isn't gonna cut it, so I'm working on it and hope to be in shape by the time I start nusring school. :D Good luck with all of your goals.

LOL likely. I have a friend who is trying to get me into cooking quantity items and stocking the freezer so eating healthy is very easy. Unfortunately, she's a long way away or she could do it for me, haha. I am trying to share some sites with my dh that have these ideas on them .. I'll post them when I have a chance to find them again. Here is one: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Friendly-Freezer/

I like the idea of the healthy living post in the other forum. I'll have to find that one too .. found it! https://allnurses.com/forums/showthread.php?t=116012

I have some flash cards but haven't had the need for them yet .. sounds like they will be coming in handy this week, though. I like the online anatomy drills for our text as they have the ol' click and drag and then you can go to the next level and fill them in "from scratch".

Meanwhile, my dh just bought a new monitor for my computer and it's blinding me .. now where's the bright button?? lol Whew found it .. GAK!!

I lost weight from all the grief with my teacher :uhoh3: :yelclap: about 5 pounds... it's ok with me as long as I don't deteriorate completely and become a 'pile of dead cells' by the end of the semester :rotfl:

There is not much time for cooking here either anymore, thank god for the microwave!

ROFL .. thanks for the histology humour!

Ugh, sorry you have lost weight from stress over your stupid teacher's methods or lack thereof.

I think I lost weight during the first 3 weeks and over the past week have felt like I was starting to "pack more into my adipose" for the long cold winter haha. I think I have been tending to grab things out of convenience or not at all and then finally eating too much at night.

Hope things get better for you. The quantity cooking/freezing idea sounds like a good one .. if I actually had time to carry it out it would be another thing.

Ok so the first exam i got back in lecture was a 58 the class average was a 54:sniff: . Now today we had our second exam and right before it started I got news from my job that something happened last night when I left work, my boss didn't tell me much so it just left me with a big question mark. The entire time i am taking my exam i can't concentrate because my stomach is in knots wondering what happened at work. . So of course I bummed the test with a 46 the class average was 59 :bluecry1: :bluecry1: :bluecry1: . I just don't know what to do know Maybe i am not studying hard enough. My instructor does not curve and we only have 3 test left and a final. Could someone offer some advice.

Thanks sorry so long.

BTW i am doing great in lab. :wink2:

There is a solution for you, the 'quantity cooking/freeing idea' is available at your nearest grocer's frozen ile :) Since everything seems to be "Retro" these days, TV dinners will make a comeback? Good ol' Salsbury steak :rotfl:

Adipose tissue....I have battled it all my life and it is ok if I loose a few pounds (our instructor calls the cells 'signet cells' that look like like 'chickenwire'.) I made a 87 on his terrible lab test, I think I got the second highest grade. I admit I made a few stupid unecessary blunders but I got all his chemistry questions and his technical diffusion/osmosis stuff right. At least something to be proud of. I am developing strategies to out trick this guy. I hope it works and I can jack up my grade. He has announced that the third lecture test, muscles, will eat us for lunch since it gets very 'molecular'. HELLO, I DON"T WANT TO BECOME A BRAIN SURGEON, I ONLY WANT TO BE A NURSE!!!!

Good luck, and keep up the good humor (hey that's ice-cream...something to toss at the kids if they need a snack) I am trying to not loose my sanity and mitochondria :chuckle

Is your final exam cummulative?

My advice is to stop worrying about the exams you already took. Go over them and correct the ones you got wrong and KNOW why and learn them the correct way for the final.

Prepare well in advance for the next exam and don't try to cram or wait til the last minute. A&P was no joke for us either............lots of info too little time. Do your best and you should be fine.

Best wishes to you.

I gained a few pounds when taking A&P 1 last semester. I loved the course but I was on my toes constantly. Throw in a snack here and there and "quick bites" and viola! weight gain. LOL!

I've been doing much better with my eating habits and have managed to lose those pounds along with some stressful days too.

Good luck and you are not alone!

Definitely try, as Jess suggested, correcting what you got wrong on your prior exams and using them as a study guide. Don't panic, try to take it calmly. Take a day or two away from it if you can to calm down and let your mind rest - sometimes too much information = no more retention. Try re-writing notes prior to a test and even writing out questions and answers from the text - this can help you to retain the information. Best of luck. Remember, if it's multiple choice and you don't know, go with your first instinct and don't change your answer.

Thanks that really helps I will keep you posted. I have to make at least a 90 on the remaining test. And yes the final is cummalitive.

You will be fine. A little stress is good but never over do it my friend. We are all here to help each other too.

You'll be ok. Just relax and take a little breather. You've got a lot of people pulling for you. And I am going to echo Jess again - we are all struggling together, but at least we have each other for support and help when we need it. Good luck and do keep us posted. ;)
