can anyone pls help me with this:

tissues can grow through an increase in cell size or cell number.

What are the respective terms for the two types of growth.

Thanks!

I would think it would be "cell growth" for both. If you are talking about increase in cell number, it is reproduction or cell division, but still "cell growth".

If there is a special term for either, then I don't remember it. lol (So, if you find out, let me know.) ;)

Hmm lol sounds very familiar! Our cats are 8 and 2 and the 8 year old female detests the 2 year old male. He's one of those types that likes to run outside any chance he gets and acts a little too familiar with the female .. but generally it's ok. He chases her and she growls at him looong and loudly.

We miss the patriarch of the cat family who was almost 15 when he died. He was pretty much the mediator (glue that held the cat family together, as it were lol) and they both loved him and got along with him. He had cancer (we think) and died after me and my oldest dd gave him medicine but not exactly so you'd notice (i.e., not right away). Dh headed out with dd to her play practice and our youngest dd was holding him and he died in her arms. Our 6yo ds thought he killed him by knocking him off the sofa. We tried to revive him for a while and it was absolutely awful. We phoned dh and he likely drove about 2X faster than the speed limit to get back home but .. ish .. he was gone. I left him in his bed and had to go out to our dd's dress rehearsal ... and had to tell her ... and deal with his body when we got home.

It was so awful and facing the inevitable, albeit unsubstantiated, guilt and deep sorrow was more than I could have imagined. I had never lost a pet before. Dd and I sat up after dress rehearsal and cried ourselves to sleep.

Anyhoooooooooooooooo more than you wanted to know! LOL

It's o.k. to talk about it, it's part of the grieving process.

I wasn't allowed to openly grief over my grandmother's death....you can't hold things like that in or it will stunt the rest of your life....well finally 20 years later I did, in therapy session. It is so important to be able to talk about thing that bother you, I don't mind listening....I am a good listener. That's a good quality a nurse needs to have, in my opinion.

Don't you just love this board....we get to learn, to evolve....and most importantly of all we have support from each other. That's what it's all about. God bless you and your family

Oh, lol thanks; for some reason I had slipped into the microbiology slides! I am going to try taking pictures tomorrow in lab!

Yes! Thank you so much! It sounds like we have a lot in common! Hey, I just peeked at your public profile and I was just looking at your area on a map earlier today as one of my dd's friends is at school in Comfort for this year! It's weird .. kind of like everything in my consciousness is getting reinforced over and over in some crazy way! Here I was thinking you are from Minnesota!

Comfort is not too far from us. We have only been in SA for 2 1/2 years. Anticipating lots of rain from hurricane Rita....hopefully it will not be so bad.

I have never been to Minnesota....Keep Texas in your thoughts as Rita approaches. We should chat sometime, e-mail me if you like :specs:

Hello everyone. I am extremly feeling like I don't know if I can do this anymore. I started A&P 3 weeks ago and have my first lecture test next wed and I am feeling so overwhelmed with only the first 3 chapters. The third chapter is sooo long, all about chemistry and cells. My teacher wants us to know basically eerything. I made flash cards, I read my chapters I attend every lecture, and why do I feel so lost and so confused. Will it get better or worse with the rest to come. I am commited to A&P for the next 6 months(for part 2). I want to be able to do this, but now I am thinking if I can't handle this for 2 semester how will I handle Nursing S. I have achieved all A's and B's up till this point. I have never had a class like this. Maybe I am just freaking out because of the first test :chair: I guess I will have to give it a try, I came this far. Well I just needed to vent. I love this forum because Iknow there are so many people going through what I am going through. My friends who are not in school seem to not really relate. Thanks for listening.

Oh, PS... I haven't even really got into the lab portion yet. We start learning about tissues next week. This class is like 2 in 1.

HUGS!!! Hang in there! Just remember to keep putting one foot in front of the other and take deep breaths! I know what you mean .. the waves of panic get me sometimes also. You can do this!

Allow yourself not to be perfect and you'll likely do better than you think you will. Do you have access to peer tutors or others or group tutors at your school? Also do you have any buddies you can talk through it all with? Even one or two study sessions together might be what you need.

Sending you positive thoughts and a prayer for a good night's sleep tonight and know we are there with you in overwhelmed spirit!

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I feel the same way alot of times too. It wasn't so bad the first three chapters but I'm on cell metabolism right now and I can't even understand what I'm reading.

I feel like I'm going to just cry sometimes. But I know we can make it through this, lots of people before us have done it.

Good luck

I feel EXACTLY the same as you do.... I am mainly A and B student, we have our first lecture test next Tues, and the first lab test next Thurs. The teacher is horrible, very scattered, has notes from the 1950's and his examples don't resemble things in the book.....aaarrrrgggghhh. It's so hard to study if you don'lt recognize pictures and terms that he uses when you read the textbook..... I also wonder what it's gonna abe like in nursing school, and if I will ever even get into one in the first place with all the competition. Study hard for this test, and remember to do your best. Go over the summaries in the back of chapters and if you are not sure about something read more about it. Do all end of chapter practice questions. And then pray........ :rotfl: Good luck, you still have another week.

I felt the same way you all are feeling, and now thinking the same about chemistry. I guess it's natural. lol

Make sure you can answer the questions at the ends of the chapters. Turn your chapter objectives into questions, answer those.

Search for quizzes online and do those. http://groups.msn.com/AnatomyPhysiologyTests/howtopassap.msnw has a free Quizzer program you can ask for...very good review!

Study diagrams, etc in the book, as well as things you find online.

I know this is all repititous from what I have said in several earlier posts, but I thought I would post it again. ;)

When you can, read out loud, view different versions of the same thing. etc. Anything that will cover your way of learning.

YOU CAN DO IT, YOU CAN DO IT, YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!
