can anyone pls help me with this:tissues can grow through an increase in cell size or cell number.
What are the respective terms for the two types of growth.
Thanks!
How's this? LOL you pick two!
Hypertrophy = an excessive enlargement or overgrowth of tissue without cell division
Hyperplasia = an abnormal increase in the number of normal cells in a tissue or organ, increasing its size
Mitosis = the orderly division of the nucleus of a cell that ensures that each new nucleus has the same number of kind of chromosomes as the original nucleus.
Meiosis = a type of cell division that takes place during reproduction of gametes, involving two successive nuclear divisions that reult in cells with the haploid number of chromosomes.
...But all of those are still "cell growth" abnormal or not. lol
PIXIE-DUST: CONGRATS!!!! See, now you know how your instructor grades. You should be fine! :)
If your classes are anything like mine was, the muscle tissue & nervous tissue lecture test was a little harder than the first, but the nervous system isn't has hard as the muscle tissue & nervous tissue. lol Just keep a positive thought, and study how you studied for this test.
Good luck! :)

Yes I am like that, although I am trying not to be because it just makes me crazy. Enjoy your A!!Thanks Kayel! I was sooo happy when I saw those A's. But I would have been devastated if I had gotten anything other than an A. Does anyone else feel that way about grades? I sometimes feel like I'm obsessed with grades.

For every other class, other than my pre-reqs, I was this way: If I get a C or a B, it's passing. Then, I stay totally stressed out, staying up late studying to make the A. lol
I try to set myself up for to not be devestated if I don't make an A, but I know I will be if I don't. Now, for this chemistry, I'll be elated with an A, happy with a B, and "Thank God I passed" with a C. LOL (It all depends on how hard the last three tests go which will all be completed in 4 weeks!)
As far as my pre-reqs, nothing but an A was acceptable!!! I had to make A's, or I wouldn't get in the NS program. 3.77 was the cut-off for the last two semesters for DallasCCCD, and I already have a B in Algebra from several years back.
I know just how you guys feel. I try not to beat myself up over my grades, but I am horrible! I just about cry if I don't get an A - and the worst part is, grades mean nothing for admission out here, it's just me! I only got an 87.5 on my PSY235 quiz today and about balled. My overall GPA for that class is a 90 now, but I'm afraid that the harder it gets, the more that will drop. I know I need to chill out about it, but it's so hard. Good luck to all of us and hopefully we can mellow out about the "perfect" grades. Congratulations for keeping them high though - that is awesome!!!
I'll mellow out when I start taking the nursing classes. From what I've heard/read, I'll need to be so happy to make a B. LOL

Hi everyone, hope you're all having a great day. I took my first A&P lecture test today. Chapter 1 & 2 of Saladin's book. The multiple choice portion was pretty good, but we had a fill in the blank short answer portion too. I studied my butt off, but I can't help but wonder if I gave the answers she was looking for. It can be so tricky sometimes with the way they word the questions. I'm hoping for a "B" *fingers and toes crossed*. This weekend I'll be studying the bones of the upper body extremities

YAY!! I just had to tell someone!! I got a 92 on the first Unit Exam, and a 40 (out of 40) on the lab test, this week. This isn't as bad as I thought it would be.
