A&P I: Fall '05 Anatomy & Physiology Club

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

So, I'm in! I've got this and College algebra and I'm DONE with all my pre-reqs and related courses. I dropped this this past Spring, so I know how hard it is. Hopefully I'll have a better instructor this time that actually knows how to teach the class.

I was considering the coloring book too, but haven't made up my mind yet. I did get "Anatomy & Physiology for Dummies" and have slowly been reviewing it before class - I hope that briefly reviewing all of it will help me to retain it better when I start learning it. My class is 100% online though, so I'm expecting it to be somewhat challenging anyway. ;)

I have the coloring book and I highly recommend it!

Can you tell me what the name of the coloring book is and is it best to get it from the college bookstore

I got mine off Amazon for $7.00! That included shipping too. It's not the newest one, but my instructor said that it was fine because it included the exact same things in it. Mine is a Kapit/Elson one. It's called "The Anatomy Coloring Book". This is the one that I have: http://cgi.ebay.com/The-Anatomy-Coloring-Book-by-Lawrence-M-Elson-Wynn_W0QQitemZ6971100313QQcategoryZ2228QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Here's some that are avaliable on Amazon.

Specializes in progressive care telemetry.

Me too, I think. I have to triple check and make sure my program will accept prereqs from EduKan first, but I'm pretty sure they will so I'll start A&P 1 online thru Edukan on Sept. 19.

I'm pretty darn excited now! I was so bummed a few days ago when I got my new work schedule and saw that none of the local cc's A&P classes fit into said schedule. My employer is *very* inflexible so I'm psyched at the thought that I can actually get started WOOHOO! :w00t:

I took A&P I&II this summer...and if I can do that, then you guys should definitely be able to do it over the regular semester. We were havin to cover a chapter everyday, then have a quiz over it the next day, then have a test every Friday on Mon.-Thurs. chapters and nothing was cut out! It is a lot of info., but just relax and take it one day at a time. Flash cards were my best friend! I also kept looking at the ultimate goal, that "hey, it's hard now, but this will get me into nursing school and it will all be worth it." I wish you guys the best of luck! :wink2:

I'm new here, finishing my pre-reqs, and I'm wondering if anyone else is taking separate A and P courses...

Just wanted to tell you goodluck with the hell that is A and P. I loved the prof I had for both classes and labs. She told us at the beginning not to think we will learn and retain 100 percent of the information, just to do the best you can. She told us it was a kill class and it would be the hardest class we had ever taken- unless of course if we were preceeding to nursing school. HAHA.

The only supplement I took with it was CAFFEINE. hehe.

Goodluck... it helped me to DRAW everything out. I bought some dry erase markers and drew on my computer screen and even mirrors. Free time was just drawing, for some reason that helped me- flow charts, graphs, pictures, whatever. A lot of late nights at Dennys and a lot of hard work. Surprisingly no sweat or tears.

Bye! :smokin: :smokin: :smokin: :smokin:

Okay, re the Anatomy Colouring book, two days ago, I saw the Physiology Colouring book at the book store. Is this all separate material? I didn't have a chance to even crack the cover of it as we were in a hurry so didn't buy it but I wondered if it would be things that are also covered in a 6.0 credit hour A&P course. I guess once I get my text, I will be able to tell more ..... has anyone else used the Physiology Colouring book? (Mine [the Anatomy Colouring Book] is by Kapit/Elson) Thanks.

Specializes in PeriOp, ICU, PICU, NICU.

I didn't purchase anything aside from the regular book and manual, but many did and the coloring book and flash cards seemed to do the trick for them. ;)

Hello all Im taking anatomy this fall as well this is my first time and im very nervous i just took BIO 101 which is general and I made a C not to happy with that.

I am feeling the same exact way. I am almost done with my Bio101 and I am expecting I will get a C in that also, which disappoints me, because before these science classes I got all A and like one B. And that was good for me because I was out of school for almost 12 years. But know is where it seems to be getting a lot harder. I am starting Anatomy and Physiology this fall too, i think I will pick up a book to read and try and get the basics down. Good luck to you

i will be taking A & P 1 this fall too. Looking forward to finishing my pre-reqs. I have this fall and spring. I will apply for the nursing program in the spring......

Specializes in ER.

I'm taking A&P I this semester along with the rest of y'all. I'm really not too worried about it because last semester I tried taking A&P II (yes, out of sequence), and it wasn't too bad. I had to drop it (not because I was doing poorly), but just trying gave me the confidence to know I can pass A&P I! Good luck to us all!
