WGU Pre-licensing BSN for 2015

Nursing Students Western Governors

Published

Hey everyone,

I am looking at possible attending WGUs Prelicensing.

I have been between 2 schools but it is looking more positive with than the other school. I have to retake my A&P 2 due to the Lack of quality instructors. The Professor we had was absolutely horrible and many of us in the class need to retake it due to low grades. I will have to wait til Spring and take it at a community college instead of where I took the last one. I am wondering how many other are planning to attend in 2015.

Other than that I will have all I need to Apply. I am emailing my enrollment counselor and find out the upcoming dates that are out so far in 2015.

I am gearing more towards WGU and having a group to work together and keep eachother motivated would be great. Let me know.

Thanks

Shonda

I got into California for the Pasadena Cohort starting August 1, 2015. I also got into Collin College in Texas back where I am from. Considering moving back to go to school there so I will be on campus. All online prelicensure makes me nervous... Anyone else get in to WGU Prelicensure California?

Congrats to you Loren. I will be applying for the Feb 2016 cohort.

Hi, congrats on your acceptance! I was admitted to the cohort starting July 1st, 2015. I believe this is the OC cohort.

Hi guys,I'm also applying for the October 2015 cohort in CA . My enrollment was quick they took all my classes even some extra . I have experience in the medical field but I'm nervous I scored proficient in the TEAS and got a C for microbiology . I'm wondering what chance I have I know it's super competitive . If I don't get it I want to redo my micro class with the online program . Can anyone tell me how that works ? Also , if I'm able to do the micro class . Hoping also finishing my AA will help me in the process . Sorry for all the questions but I really want to get it . Thanks a bunch

Hi

I wanted to ask you how was the selection process ? I'm wondering because I want to start in October I heard it's competitive . I'm wondering if I should retake my microbiology because I got a C . Thanks

I am currently waiting to see if I have been accepted into the October 2015 cohort. My enrollment counselor informed me that the nursing committee looks at GPA, TEAS scores, and various other factors such as clinical experience, healthcare experience, ...etc. It seems like they want a well rounded student.

After reading through various posts, the California cohorts are very competitive. What is your overall GPA for your science courses? I would re-take micro if your GPA is lower than 3.6 (I read somewhere that was the cutoff GPA, but not positive). I would shoot for at least 90% on the TEAS test.

I will try to answer as many questions as I can, as I have completed the whole admissions process.

Thanks ! For the respond . My GPA is lower than 3.6 , so if I don't get it I will definitely redoing my micro class in the Fall . When I talked to my enrollment counselor he said I would max points because of my experience , but well see . I know California is competitive .. I will keep trying until I get in . Thanks for all your help and i will keep you guys posted and see what happens :)

Hey guys! I was accepted into the July 1st OC cohort in California. So far I really like the experience at . I received a B.S. previously at Cal Poly SLO and while that experience was amazing, four years was enough time spent at a brick and mortar for me. I'm still a bit nervous about the nursing skills test but i'll cross that bridge when I get there. If anyone has any questions about the pre-licensure program feel free to send me a message!

The selection process is pretty intense. Not only do they look at your GPA, TEAS score, and work experience, they also look at how you keep up with your appointments with your admissions counselor and how quickly you get all your documents into them as well. I had a 4.0 in my science pre-reqs, and scored an 80 on my TEAS. (I didn't study lol). Hope this helps. :)

This is helpful.

Has anyone heard anything from their enrollment counselor for the October 2015 cohort ? I believe mine said end of the month they will be making their selection ? It's going to be a grueling two weeks until we find out . I'm exciting to know what everyone has been hearing so far for the CA OCT cohort ?:writing:

I have not heard from my enrollment counselor either. She told me it would be 30-45 days. I have been counting down the days and really hope it is 30 days.

It has been a grueling few weeks for me already... We can do it, just a couple more weeks! :banghead::)

Good luck to you.
