WGU Pre-licensing BSN for 2015

Published

Hey everyone,

I am looking at possible attending WGUs Prelicensing.

I have been between 2 schools but it is looking more positive with WGU than the other school. I have to retake my A&P 2 due to the Lack of quality instructors. The Professor we had was absolutely horrible and many of us in the class need to retake it due to low grades. I will have to wait til Spring and take it at a community college instead of where I took the last one. I am wondering how many other are planning to attend in 2015.

Other than that I will have all I need to Apply. I am emailing my enrollment counselor and find out the upcoming dates that are out so far in 2015.

I am gearing more towards WGU and having a group to work together and keep eachother motivated would be great. Let me know.

Thanks

Shonda

The selection process is pretty intense. Not only do they look at your GPA, TEAS score, and work experience, they also look at how you keep up with your appointments with your admissions counselor and how quickly you get all your documents into them as well. I had a 4.0 in my science pre-reqs, and scored an 80 on my TEAS. (I didn't study lol). Hope this helps. :)

Did you get in? And do you have a degree already?

Good luck to you too ..I know the feeling I'm counting down too . After reading soo many posts I'm starting to get diacouraged it seems a lot of the candidates already have a degree .not nursing but a bachelors none the less :/ . Keeping my fingers crossed . Let me know how things go with you :)

I don't have a degree and I was accepted for the August 1st cohort for Huntington Memorial Hospital. However, I declined the offer since they only give a 3.0 GPA, and I need a 3.5+ GPA for CRNA school after my BSN. I was accepted into another school, and I am moving forward with them.

I am about to quit!! This Bio Chemistry papers are the devil!

July26,

Don't feel discouraged, WGU looks at other criterias beyond a degree. LorenW28 stated he was accepted without a degree. Although the Pre-Licensure BSN student population is small, I am confident that others without degrees have been accepted.

It is not over until they say no; even then, there are two other cohorts coming up that you can also apply to as well (if Pasadena and OC works for you).

My plan is to make myself available for all 3 cohorts, to increase my chances of getting in.

Good luck!! Just a couple LONG weeks before we get to know if we were accepted or not. :banghead::facepalm::)

Ok this sounds too good to be true. I have a BS in allied health and my medical assisting diploma. And I currently been working as a nursing assistant for 5 years. I have done most prenreqs for my rn just so sick of being rejected!! I don't have a 4.0 but have great experience and love what I do. Waiting for my enrollment consuelor to Call me back. Any advice to get accepted?

SocBooKyraMartz is right. Originally when I applied, I was applying for the OC cohort. Since my address was in Hollywood, they declined me. My counselor told me that most likely the reason they declined me was to keep me close to my main cohort. So, she was confident I was going to be accepted for the Pasadena or Beverly Hills cohort. The next one was Pasadena, and sure enough, I was accepted. :)

So, if you don't get in the first time do not feel discouraged. Your counselor will let you know if they feel you need to retest, retake classes, or do nothing (like mine told me). They do a great job of putting you in the best spot for you at the right time.

Hello! I was enrolled in ivy techs nursing program and after a year, I went through a family death and it hit me hard and I just didn't go back. Once I got back on my feet, i finished a separate degree and got my RHIA and now work at the hospital. I would love to go back to nursing but am worried my past will haunt my chance of acceptance. Do you think I would be excluded based on failing out of a precvious program? I was hoping that since I later went on to finish a degree, I could regain some credibility! Interested in hearing what you think! Thanks so much!

Iam LPN since last 10 years. I just feel it is time for me to do something different.I have basically worked all areas of nursing and now i work as elementary school nurse in the last 4years. My prereqs are around 11years. I dont know if that will still be useable by WGU BSN pre licensing. What is the attitute of employers towards online nursing degree?

This post hasn't been active for awhile but I'm curious if you all started the program at WGU and what you think of it...

I a getting ready to start IN 017 on April 1. Does anyone who graduated still have their clinical uniforms?
