WGU MSN in 6 months

Nursing Students Western Governors

Updated:   Published

Is it possible to do the MSN educator program in one term 6 months? In a way that's 2 quarters, so it would be 15 units per quarter. If the student is able to handle all the load, is it possible to do in terms of prerequisites of the MSN classes-- are some classes REQUIRED to be taken before taking the next class? I understand that some classes SHOULD be taken before another class, but I want to know if it's possible to take them all at once?

I want to pursue my MSN educ in . Has anyone compared the tuition fee cost with other online schools? Are they accredited. Have read reviews about WGU in ripoff report and some reviews are scary. Thank you.

WGU is accredited, and the tuition is one of the lowest around because they are NON-PROFIT!.

As far as ripoff report- there are trolls everywhere. is well-respected and totally legit.

Hi!

Congratulations on completing your degrees! I am 15 courses from completing the RN-BSN. I think 38 CUs from finishing. I would love to knock this out in 1 term...any tips on how you were able to complete your BSN in 1 term? Thanks in advance:)

I'm starting in July. I'm so nervous because I have never done this type of schooling before. I did go to excelsior for my Associate in nursing, and I did do my BSN at CTU, but from what I heard WGU is a whole different type of study. I would like to aim on finishing in 7.5 months, but have no idea how to even start. Can you help?

My first enrollment counselor told me I just needed my BSN transcripts I got a new enrollment counselor and I got an email saying that I needed additional for my ASN the pre-reqs etc. anybody else have to submit more than just their BSN transcripts for the MSN program?

I know everybody likes to speed through this awesome program but I am enjoying the process of savoring the material. Learning community Health and teaching, two of my favorites so I do have a goal of when I want to graduate but I'm not speeding toward the finish line. I think I stand alone with this!

You certainly don't! I might possibly hold the record for the student who has been at for the longest amount of time! I'm hoping to be done at the end of July, which will make exactly 4 years total, with one 5-month break between finishing the BSN and starting the MSN. I have just gone into my FIFTH term of the MSN program. My husband is very exasperated at me.

That will mean 18 months to do the RN-BSN program, and 26 months to complete the MSN.

My advice: If you do happen to complete the MSN degree in one term, I'd keep it to myself. Completing a graduate degree in 6 months doesn't exactly say "quality" and "authentic" to a lot of people and further sparks the " is a diploma mill BS."

Yes. I agree people would believe that.

The way is set up as competency based and for the experienced working nurse they make it "doable" to complete quickly.

You can pass some of the Assessments based on RN years of experience and knowledge and a quick refresher, but if you actually study all of the material they suggest including tons of reading and videos, there is No Way you can complete that quickly. Unless you spend every waking moment studying.

If you value enriching your education then it will take time. If you just want the degree asap you can do that also. Like life it is what you make of it.

I hated the way I initially earned my associate degree, working and raising a family with no real online options I studied what I could but never really felt I got what I wanted from my studies. Today it is different I study approximately 12-15 hours per week, ONE class at a time, plenty of material and I am learning a lot because I choose to do it this way.

To each his own....

Wgu's MSN is doable in 6 months--I did it!
