Has anyone done the WGU online RN to BSN program?

Has anyone taken any classes from , the RN to BSN program? It looks like a great program, but the classes are not your typical pay per class style. They go by a 6 month period, you pay a fee for that period and can take or test out of as many classes as you would like.

I also like the fact that when I told them I could not start until the fall of 2010 they kept my name and information on file and update me once a month, but are not pushing. I filled out a form for info on another college 2 days ago and they haven't stopped calling, calling, calling since. I do not like the pressure tactics. Thank you.:uhoh3:

I'm in an ADN program. The rep I spoke with on the phone said I could be working as a Nursing Assistant or LPN to qualify for the program.

I made a mistake in my last post, site wont let me edit it.

I really want to enroll in a BSN asap after taking the NCLEX in the hopes of it improving my chances of getting a job.

Notca67 Did you ever find out if you could enroll while being a NA?

I'm going to be starting soon. Has anyone taken intro to psych and/or intro to humanities. If so, how long did it take to complete them? I am hoping with my 40 cu to be complete in a year. Do I determine which classes to take first or does WGU assign me the courses?

I have a few pre-req classes to take at : survey of us history, intro to psych, intro to humanities, biochem, nutrition. Should I take them at WGU or elsewhere? I am looking at starting WGU soon, but wondering if it would make sense to do these by clep? Are these all classes that have tests with them or do they require writing papers or both? Any advice would be helpful.

I Clepped them as part of my ADN

I'd take them at - but if you decide not to, WGU probably won't accept biochem or nutrition done elsewhere so do the others. :) Some of those classes have tests (so it would be similar to a CLEP), biochem, history, and humanities have papers.

WGU arbitrarily assigns the courses each term, but you can tell your program mentor which ones you'd like to complete first. The courses can be completed in virtually any order, although it is preferable to take statistics prior to the research class.

I am confused about the prereqs and testing. Say I have to take a class that offers a proctored exam, where are your study materials? Is there a book you purchase, is it a PowerPoint you learn off of and do they give you info to study from? Also, has anyone actually transferred to another college for their NP or other MSN degree and had no problems? Thanks for the info!

All of the Ebooks and PowerPoints you'll need are included as part of the technology fee you pay. You will not need to purchase any books unless you like hardcover.

Yes. graduates have been accepted into MSN, FNP, DNP and other graduate / postgraduate programs.

I understand that people have gone on to other programs, but has anyone gone on to traditional schools that has attended and was it an easy transition? Was it hard for you to find a school that wasn't on a GPA requirement? How are the tests? Do you have to study a 400 pg textbook or do they help guide you into what to study to achieve competency I guess i am worried about Statistics:)

Can you explain how in depth the papers for? And the length? Where they really anal and/or picky?

The papers were not that in-depth. As long as you follow the rubric they provide, you will do fine on the papers and essays.

Great thank you!
