Has anyone done the WGU online RN to BSN program?

Has anyone taken any classes from , the RN to BSN program? It looks like a great program, but the classes are not your typical pay per class style. They go by a 6 month period, you pay a fee for that period and can take or test out of as many classes as you would like.

I also like the fact that when I told them I could not start until the fall of 2010 they kept my name and information on file and update me once a month, but are not pushing. I filled out a form for info on another college 2 days ago and they haven't stopped calling, calling, calling since. I do not like the pressure tactics. Thank you.:uhoh3:

They change their policies regularly. This would not be the only issue where there's been a flip-flop. I specifically asked about this when enrolling, because life happens and it would really suck to get kicked out my my best means of getting a new job if I lost my current one. At that time, I was told that I only had to be working at the time of admission.

Though now the official policy is that you have to be working, no one is likely to be checking up on it, and there is only one task where it is relevant, so a temporary lapse in employment is unlikely to be an issue as long as you don't make a big deal about it to your mentor.

They changed their policies, or their revelation of their policies, so often during my initial contacts with them, that I ended up not continuing with the application process. There is only so much lack of consistency, whether it is what one counselor tells you from day to day, or whether or not you have the same counselor from day to day, that a person can deal with, while maintaining respect for the institution's program.

Such a shame for you, you missed out and all for what? Some "inconsistencies", meanwhile many obtain their inexpensive education. Tragic indeed. I wish you success with whatever perfect school you find.

Why the nasty comment? What makes you think there was nothing more than a little inconvenience involved? People do not always post the entire story, normally the relevant points are enough to respond to any given thread. Your attitude is very telling here.

You're interpretation of my comment is what I find offensive. I clearly explained that no school is perfect and if the reason to pass is because of "inconsistency" then no school will pass the test. Now please cool down and stop slandering me.

On the WGU website it reads: 90 hours of mentor-guided clinical experience in a qualified community health setting.

This is for the RN-BSN program.

I thought everyone said there were no clinicals at WGU.

"Mentor guided" means that it's guided by your course and student mentors. It's not a clinical experience in the traditional sense. You do have to go out in the community and talk to people, but it's on your time, and by your design.

For instance, I did my community health practicum on child abuse prevention. For my 90 hours, I interviewed a CPS investigator, a social worker, an administrator at a child abuse prevention task force, family leadership pastors of a local church, etc.

Who did you interview for your 1st part of community health to gather data? I'm having a hard time getting started...

Not sure what you mean by "first part of community health"?

There's C228 and C229 I'm curious about C228.

You don't have to interview anyone. You also don't have to include all the info from all the questionnaires, so just use them as a rough guide as to what to look for. You really need MUCH less than it sounds from the description in order to pass. If you're on the Facebook community, there is a sample paper in the files section, and it's very helpful for getting an impression of what they want.

Thank you I'll definitely check out FB. They say in the description you have to interview people in the county to get the 25 hours for C228. So I'm not quite sure, but this course has been a little confusing this far. I'm hoping to get it done this month.

They didn't have this when I did the BSN program (I graduated in 12/2011). Sorry, can't help.

I agree, the expectations and instructions for this task are very unclear. I was kind of lucky - it was the end of the semester, so I didn't have time to overthink it. I just wrote stuff as fast as possible, turned it in, and hoped for the best. Got all 4s except for one 3 where I'd slightly misunderstood the instructions.

If it hadn't been the end of the semester, I'm sure it would have ended up being 50 pages.
