Has anyone done the WGU online RN to BSN program?

Has anyone taken any classes from , the RN to BSN program? It looks like a great program, but the classes are not your typical pay per class style. They go by a 6 month period, you pay a fee for that period and can take or test out of as many classes as you would like.

I also like the fact that when I told them I could not start until the fall of 2010 they kept my name and information on file and update me once a month, but are not pushing. I filled out a form for info on another college 2 days ago and they haven't stopped calling, calling, calling since. I do not like the pressure tactics. Thank you.:uhoh3:

I was initially a little "weirded out" by webcam but got used to it quick. Much easier for me than traveling to a location

I have 31 credits left to graduate which includes statistics.

What is the best sequence of the nursing courses to take in order to finish in 6 months for the RN to BSN?

I have the same question regarding sequence of courses. If there are some that take forever for whatever reason I want to start them right away so I don't get to the end and have them all done except the really long one.

I haven't had any issues with getting a job. For the most part, larger hospitals that are seeking magnet status just want BSN prepared nurses. You will not have any trouble at all.

Am starting my RN-BSN course at on June 1st. I have 40 credits to complete and am determined to complete the whole course in less than a year. Anybody else starting on June 1st? Anybody interested in starting a fb page for the class so we can update and motivate each other?

Recently, I learned about WGU from a co-worker. She made the decision to attend WGU because of the relatively low cost and flat fee per 6 month term. Amazingly, she finished the program in 8 months. I don't think this is the norm, but she explained that she did nothing but assignments and papers during All her free time, including nearly 24 weekend hours.

For nearly a month or so, I've been researching online RN to BSN programs. When inquiring at University of Phoenix, I found the enrollment counselor to be somewhat determined to get me to commit to their program. She reminded me of a car salesman. When I mentioned to her that I found another school (WGU) and that it would mostly likely cost a little over a third of what U of P charged AND it was a legit, accredited university, her only response was.. "Yeah, but do you really want to go to a school that no one knows about? Or would you rather go to a school that everyone knows about?" It was then that I made my decision to go to WGU.

All my interactions, so far, with the enrollment counselor at WGU have been awesome! I applied, had my transcripts sent out, took the placement test and within two weeks my transcripts were evaluated and I was accepted. So far I'm very pleased with my experience at WGU.. Hopefully it will go as smoothe as it has so far. Oh, and one more thing.. University of Phoenix is a "for profit" company. WGU is non-profit. Hopes this helps anyone with questions related to WGU.

Have had the same positive experience. Funny to hear some people think they have some scheme when they are so affordable. Everything is included books as well.

Hi,

Yes, I have done an online nursing program for . It was definitely nice to be able to test out of the assignments.

Overall, a quality nursing program.

I hope to start Sept 1 and have not been to school since 1987.

How many web cam proctored tests are there? What operating systems do they accept?

Im looking at going to for RN to BSN. I work part time because I have a toddler at home who takes up most of my time ( and of course I want to spend as much time with him). Im planning on spending about 30 hrs a week on studying . 4-5 hrs a day in the middle of the morning 0230-0730 when baby is asleep. From anyone's experience, is this enough time to study and get my BSN within a year?

I worked full-time, 48 hours per week, on the night shift. I probably devoted 10 to 15 hours each week to studying and completed the BSN in 10 months.

It depends on how many credits you need to complete. I needed 34 credits. Others needed 50+ credits. Your mileage may vary.

What do you mean; "test out of the assignments"?
