  1. I got accepted for Spring 2021 at the Denton Campus. I started a FB page last week for students in that cohort who want to help support each other. I just started the page last week. Look up TWU FNP Spring 2021
  2. I just registered for classes today. I’m in the Denton Campus. Also, I previously posted about a FB Group I started last week for the Spring Cohort for those that want to join. Look up TWU FNP Spring 2021. The more that join, the more we can offer support to one another.
  3. Hi! I’m going to be in the Spring 2021 cohort for the FNP program. I started a FB group today for students in that cohort. Hopefully it can be used for to support one another through the program. I just uploaded the group. Hope to connect with you all soon! https://www.facebook.com/groups/631093074234895/?ref=share
  4. Perfect. You can Pm me your email if you like and I can let you know when I’ve started the page. I’m on my way to Austin for an out of state move. We arrive tomorrow after 9 days of driving with little kids.....shew . I’ll start on the FB group by end of next week and report on Allnurses. actually, I just started one from my phone. I will add pictures etc. later this week. Here is the url: https://www.facebook.com/groups/631093074234895/?ref=share
  5. Hi! Maybe we should start a FB group? TWU Spring 2021 FNP?
  6. Hi! I was also accepted into the Spring Program for 2021. I haven’t found much information online. Have you made any further connections?
  7. Thank you for your in put. I appreciate the feedback. Plenty of nurses it seems. Is Dallas a better area for nurses? Is there more pay for a BSN than ADN?
  8. Hi, With no income tax, do we keep all our salary? In California I'm currently paying about 27%.
  9. Hi! Were looking to relocate to Austin, TX and I'm researching salary ranges and hospitals. I went to payscale etc., but there is such a variation.I'm an E.R. nurse with 7 years experience and BSN. 1) What is a typical salary/hourlyI can expect for my years of experience and profession? 2) Which are the best hospitals to work at? 3) Which are the smaller hospitals to work at? 4) What is the patient ratio for nurse? 5) Healthcare benefits for a part time worker? Normal or not? Thanks in advance! :):):):)
  10. Im looking at going to WGU for RN to BSN. I work part time because I have a toddler at home who takes up most of my time ( and of course I want to spend as much time with him). Im planning on spending about 30 hrs a week on studying . 4-5 hrs a day in the middle of the morning 0230-0730 when baby is asleep. From anyone's experience, is this enough time to study and get my BSN within a year?

I just passed my CEN yesterday. I've been an R.N. for a year and work at a Trauma 1 center for an unserved population. I used Sheehy's Manual of Emergency Nursing as my review guide and that was my only book. I also did the practice exams online from ENA. My hospital didn't cover the cost of my exam so it was expensive for me to keep getting a lot of books. I felt like I got exposure to a lot of things at my hospital which helped me with my exam.
  12. I just took the BCEN pre-exam test to see how I would do. I've been an E.R. nurse for exactly 1 year at a Trauma 1 center in an underserved area. I got 78% which I was a little shocked at since I thought I was going to fail. Im going to use Mark Boswells book, Sheehys Emergency Care and CEN ENA review book. How far in advance did you all study for? Im trying to get my exam done in 6 weeks.
  13. lol it sounds like you and i work in the same hospital....ours get so slammed they put us in an area where there is a ratio of 8:1 and you have an lvn to help out. its scary!
  14. ER took me less than a month for everything. I applied the day the position opened up though. If you can handle a fast pace ( can be extremely stressful at times) and want to do trauma, I would say go to ER. I like the rush. The training for ER is only six weeks though, so you should be a fast learner and be able to think during stressful times. You will learn so much though...everyday is something new. This week we are getting trained on the new equiptment for the new ER so by the time any of you get hired, you wont have to worry about learning an old vs. new system as the new one will already be in place.
  15. congrats! im a new grad as well that just recently got hired at harbor adult ER. im happy there :-)... im glad there is hope and new grads are getting hired!
