groupone sucks

U.S.A. Texas

a couple of years ago, while working as a tech i was fired from a big DFW hospital...i didn't put anyone in danger, i just couldn't work the hours, was late... because my doofus husband (now EX) was court ordered to be out of my home and away from my children (unless supervised). i couldn't go anywhere without a babysitter...i was so embarrassed, worried about my kids, and on the verge of a total breakdown, so i didn't tell anyone at this hospital because i just started working there...anyway the manager turned me into groupone(found out about this evil entity after i was denied employment)...now i am a RN and can't find a job...

is it possible to work in dallas, or do i just pack up and find another state to live/work??

I believe it is a background check company used in alot of hospitals in Texas. I did a google search, and that is what the link above it.

The lesson here is that you should have had a talk with your supervisor. Perhaps some, if not all, of your problem could have been dealt with differently. Not necessarily true, but possible.

i agree with you. hindsight is 20/20...believe me i realize that now...one lesson learned the hard way, being accountable is so important. at that time i was overwhelmed. since this happened i try to look within before placing blame on others. also have learned to keep my wits about me in a crisis.

That is strange that you were fired from a new job because they found out you were fired from an old job a few years ago just because you could not work the hours. Were you fired from this new job simply because you did not tell your new employer about the old job or is there something more serious on your GroupOne report than what you are letting on? If not then you need to get a copy of your report and verify the information is accurate. If not, you can challenge the information and get it changed, just like a credit report. If they are reporting false information on you then it is liable and you can sue them if they don't fix it and damages can be substantial since they are disrupting your employment. Don't just roll over and take it, fight back and clear your name and be sure to tell any future employers up front about what happened.

It is possible to work in the Dallas area, but only at facilities that do not utilize GroupOne in their hiring processes. Since all of the hospital systems in and around the DFW area use GroupOne, it is unlikely that you will find hospital employment if you have a blemish on your record with GroupOne.

Your best bet for employment in the DFW area would be dialysis centers, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, home health, agency, registry, group homes for the developmentally disabled, clinics, doctors' offices, outpatient surgery centers, and so on. Basically, you are going to have to look for employment outside of the hospital setting.

I just wanted to congratulate you for making it through such a horrible situation and still being able to pursue your nursing degree. :yeah:I also understand how it is not to want to share all your personal business with your employer...

I tried to find a list of hospitals that don't use Group1, but I haven't been able to find anything for you. They must keep it top secret..

thanks for that! really sweet of you.:) seems like groupone is spreading like a virus. i agree with the "intentions" of why it exists, but even the CEO is aware that the system is being abused, yet they don't do anything about it. i did try to fight it, but same ol story...

just to clarify, i was offered a job, and then they took it back. i had the hospital i was fired from on my resume, but i didn't know that group1 existed...or that my name was on it.

I think that stinks. 1 time you weren't the best employee as a tech and now you have achieved your RN and they are still holding it against you?

That is wrong, wrong, wrong.

Good for you on your achievements. Overcoming this will be easy compared to what you have already overcome.

All the best!

Why does Texas use group one?? Does any other state use group one?? I really like that state but it seems like they make things difficult. For instance having to take state mandated tests for endorsement, once you are endorsed--hospitals require you take online job fit assessment tests, and then after you are done with that the hospital requires you to take ANOTHER test to see if you will fit in with the institution-- a personality test! :banghead: What gives??? Has Texas always been this way...geesh!:uhoh3:
