One of our kids sent snap chats to a few friends surrounded by pills and with his arms all cut up. The snap chat story said goodbye, and how he didn't want to live anymore, etc. The kids involved were devastated, one came to my office to throw up. We had an emergency meeting with the kids and called the police and his mom. No one knows where the kid is. He is 15.

I'm sick.

Praise to the One on High!! I pray his course can be changed. Something you mentioned....your kids go to your school. That was THE reason I accepted this opportunity to be a school nurse. I have 5 kids and all of them have attended school with me on campus (PK-4) and have either graduated or attending various grade levels in this district. Every one of them know they have about a zillion eyes on them; people who know me, know who my kids are, and can contact me in an instant. I graduated from this same school district back toward the end of the civil war. They often complain about not being able to go anywhere without seeing someone we know but they know there is a community out there they can turn to if needed. A comfort and safety net that they won't recognize until they have their own kids. So, Farawyn, you're in a good position. Hold your kids close and enjoy them. It's really fun when I tell my kids I know what they've done before they even do it!! It drives them crazy!!

Working in my small little town in school with my kids has been both good and bad. Thanks for your words.

Pretty savvy from a dude who graduated in 1865.

I am so glad he was found. Poor kid, sounds like he needs more support than what he is getting at home. Glad CPS is involved and I hope this kiddo gets the help he so obviously needs.

It saddens me when parents are resistant to intervention.....

This article highlights a number of failures all over the place....with such a horrible outcome.

So happy your student is Ok hugs :)

With the mother's resistance to help, and the backlash, I am afraid that next time he will be successful. It would be hard for me to relax around him under the circumstances.

I am so sorry about this! I hope your student was able to get proper treatment. This crushes my soul.

I had a student attempt to hang herself in the school bathroom. Another student found her before she could complete it. I wasn't notified about the incident until TWO DAYS after it occurred. This student now comes to clinic daily for medication. Last week, she came to me suicidal. She said she felt hopeless and thought no one could help her. I called her mother and explained the situation. The student was picked up and no one updated me with a plan. I tried to follow up with mom. She does not respond. The student is back at school. What's worse is when explaining all of this to our Principal, she proceeded to email and text during the conversation so I feel like I have no support in helping this child. SERIOUSLY?!!

So sad. And so young to be that troubled.

I hope he gets the help he needs.

I'd give you a hug if I could!
