permission to poop granted!

  1. 23 ah, it never ceases to amaze me when kids come into my office nearly doubled over with a stomach ache and i'll gently suggest they use my bathroom and try to move their bowels... then lordy mercy they are miraculously cured! Some times it's like i'm performing miracles in here! lol

Don't know about students, but I have plenty of very constipated older folks come in. Haven't pooped for a week or two, and the first words out of their mouth is "what time is supper? I haven't eaten since lunch and I'm hungry!" Hmmmmm.

im not a nurse (yet) but there was this kid that I carpooled with when I was in elementary school, he was "in pain" he even used a wheelchair half the year, I guess the doctors couldn't figure it out, but then they did...he was just constipated because he wouldn't eat fruits and vegetables.

Then more recently, someone I know went to the ER with serious back pain, all seriously telling me she couldn't move....turns out same thing just needed to poop.

Same thing my parents had an exchange student who made my mom take her to the doctors, the dr ran all sorts of tests and said nothing was wrong with her, my mom said same thing just needed to poop so she fed her some heavy oatmeal/fruit pancakes and it solved the problem.

With 5 kids, it happens in my house on the regular. I ask if they have to go #2, they say no, I ask them to try, and walla, belly ache is gone

I bet these kids are holding it because they don't want to poop in the regular bathrooms at school. They want the privacy of your throne!

I'm amazed at the nurses I work with who flat out refuse to take a poop at work! One was even doubled over in pain after eating and she just insisted on holding it until she got home!

I agree that there's nothing like the home throne advantage - but when ya gotta go, ya gotta go!

Unless it is an EMERGENCY (and I have flare ups of IBS, so it really is an emergency) I will only poop at home ( or a select few places). I have been like this since I was little, it is getting somewhat better now ( or should I say worse, since my flare ups have been more frequent). Must say more comfortable in a single stall locking door type vs the multiple stall versions. Yes college was a blast with community bathrooms.

BTW I wish the school nurse would have suggested this for my daughter a few weeks ago. She had been on narcotics after her t&a, so everything had slowed down. She was complaining of a belly ache, my mom left work early to get her, so I could go to work. Came home and pooped and was all better.

My first nursing job over 20 years ago was on a peds unit. I had a little hispanic boy come back from surgery to the floor. His mother came to the nursing station and asked for something for her son to use the bathroom in. I went to the supply closet and got her a urinal. She looked at me funny, but said nothing. To my surprise an hour later she came out of the room holding a urinal full of formed stool. I have NO idea how they got that BM into the urinal without making a mess. Lesson learned!

until a few months ago when the family left the program, my husband mentored two brothers for nearly six years -- from ages
six and seven on. the older boy would poop or pee anywhere he was when the urge hit him while the younger boy could not and
would not do either anywhere but their one bathroom at home. it was a strange and weird family!

by last year, the older kid's inappropriate behavior had ceased, but the younger one's hadn't changed much. his grandma still
gives him frequent laxatives and enemas. he will not eat fruit or drink any juice and their diet is high fat and almost entirely
    preprocessed food.
