Had a kid bring his wet, bloody tooth and plop it right on my desk.

C'mon now!

Or the kid that did running knee slide into my office.

C'mon now!

The ones old enough to cover their mouths but choose to cough right in your face instead.

All together: C'mon now!!

Some things just make me shake my head.

Got to love the parent that knowingly sends in their child sick after I sent them home sick Monday, denies that they gave them medicine after kiddo already ratted you out (the 101.7 supports their tale of purple medicine too) then takes an hour to get here. Allergies my Aunt Fannie!

I just had to call a mom a frequent flier.

"Are you beautiful or something? I know he just comes in there to stare at you. You all are going to have to get an uglier nurse!"

Well...thanks? (I by no means consider myself beautiful, but maybe we can talk to kiddo about not abusing the system and to stop faking it!)

Second grader just walked in with a note that just says "chest". He told me he was sitting in class and he felt his heart stop beating for a little bit.

I assured him his heart is beating now.

C'mon now!

FF Little Darling: I was wondering if I still have my inhaler here. I fell earlier and hit my chest. Now it hurts.

What?! C'mon Now!!!!!!!

Teacher actually sent a 2nd grader for her ears itching X 2 weeks due to her hair touching them. I SO wanted to just whip out my scissors and take care of the problem...

We had a student who was pushed by another while running outside for PE and he fell and slammed his head into the concrete decorating bricks along the edge of the track. When the called me, there was a small pool of blood around the child's head, but he was very responsive. No one is sure if he loss consciousness. I went to work and put on a pressure dressing and then asked the PE teachers if they already called EMS or the parents and they looked at me like I was crazy.

A student whacks his head on a brick, is laying in a pool of blood unable to get back up...and no one calls 911 or at the very least a parent!!! C'mon now!

UGH!!!

Kid comes in yesterday, he had been hanging upside down on the parallel bars with his hands on the ground when his hands slipped and he fell, landing on his neck. He walked up to my office. I did the assessment, he did have a lot of redness to his neck, no abnormalities found. Let him lay with some ice for a while and he goes back to class saying he feels fine.

I finally get a hold of dad after several tries and he was appreciative for the call. I told him if the child continues to complain of pain, he should be checked by a doctor.

I get to school this morning and the accident report that I filled out yesterday is laying on my desk. Counselor comes in and says student says he has a fractured spine (he has a hospital bracelet so, of course, it's true :sarcastic:) and I might need to update the form, and the student told her she wasn't allowed to sit (DURING TESTING WEEK) or bend her neck (DURING TESTING WEEK). She was not rude at all, but had those "this poor baby" eyes. I immediately call dad and say "Hey, Johnny said he has a fractured spine?" To which dad about flipped his **** and said "Um, NO! He just has mild swelling and bruising around his spine, there aren't any restrictions for sitting. Doc just told him to take it easy until this weekend."

I let the counselor (and Principal, and AP because this kiddo had already told everyone and was milking it for all it was worth) that he DID NOT have a spinal fracture. He got a good scolding after that.

But really guys...A student WALKS in the next day and tells you he has FRACTURED HIS SPINE and you A.) Just believe him (a known truth stretcher) and let him go about his morning, B.) Don't call dad to verify the story and C.) Expect me to take the kid at his word and put that on the accident report.

COME THE HECK ON NOW!!!!!!:banghead:

Right?? Like you don't think a fractured spine MIGHT require some kind of easily visible stabilizer?

RIGHT!!! I mean, c'mon, you are EDUCATED people. That's why before I even sat my bags down I had picked up the phone to call dad.

THIS. Really. Common sense, people.

I love when kids tell me they went to the doctor and were told they had a fracture. No note, no stabilization of injured area of any kind. But what is worse is when you do call home and the parent backs that up, still no note, no evidence of injury. Picks up their student at drop of a hat, upset when student is failing behind.

It reminded me of this. (I hope the link works, I'm proxy'd so I can't tell if it does)
