What was your favorite topic to study in A&P?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I am taking Anatomy and Physiology 2 this semester. I must say, I like it a lot better than part 1. It is much more in depth and I already know what to expect. My favorite topic in part 1 was the bones. This semester, my favorite topic so far to study has been the endocrine system although I thoroughly enjoyed the heart lab.

So. What's your favorite?

Specializes in LTC.

My favorite is definitely the endocrine system :) cardiac is a close second!

I loved the respiratory system myself. The renal system was pretty interesting as well!

Endocrine in AP-1 was my hands down favorite! Liked cardiovascular this semester in AP-2 as well.

Definitely cardiovascular system. Followed by reproductive.

Well, I wish I could answer this but because of the weather this season we're just now in the nervous system after spending the first half of the semester on cellular metabolism. I was looking forward to the cardiovascular, endocrine, and reproductive systems; however, with only 6 weeks left in school (excluding spring break and finals week), I don't know if we'll learn those systems in depth. I'm pretty bummed about it, so I'm going to take an upper level physiology course over the summer. :-)

Cardio! Lot's of cardio fans here.

Cardiovascular and I will tell you why. I bombed it in A&P II. I was going through my divorce and my ex was stalking me and I just couldn't concentrate at the time. I did horrible on the test. After that I was determined to learn it so I didn't bomb it on the final. I learned how the heart flowed through the body and the different sections of the heart. I am now in Advanced Physiology and we are doing the cardiac system. You have to have the basics down to understand what is going on there. So I actually remember and can participate in class. I find it so interesting. Now I am all about watching open heart surgeries on tv.

Wow, Heather! I am conintually blown away by your posts. If anyone needs motivation for persevering, I think you are their person to talk to.

Another one I found very intriguing was the lymphatic system!

This semester, my favorite topic to study has been the cardiovascular system. Every system in the body is awesome, but the heart just amazes me :wideyed:

I couldn't agree with you more! Each organ is so fascinating in that each function is vital for life. The cardiovascular system needs to be understood to fully appreciate it's complexities (and to pass :) ). Memorizing will not help much as each patient scenario is different. While this can be said of any patient, the heart RN has a lot to consider.

For example (I'm making these up): which could Not be the source of increased cardiac output? A) blood & parasympathetic B) sympathetic & hypotension C) blood & sympathetic D) A & B. E) None of the above

What is the likely state of a patient whose body is attempting to release as much aldosterone as possible? A) edematous B) obese C) severely dehydrated D) severely depressed

I'm pretty sure nursing school is hard, my only concern is that we won't use much of that knowledge in the real world. Many nurses say the job is mundane with little use of said knowledge. There is so much to know and when I apply for this fall, I imagine it won't be a cakewalk! Congrats to those who got in! To those still waiting, don't despair. I wish I were smarter years ago to go the nursing route.

Im with the majority, I love the heart and how it functions. Understanding that damage to certain areas of the heart results in specific heart problems is so fascinating. Its so interesting that we have so many diagnostic tools such the ECG, electrocardiograms, etc that help us to identify these heart problems in patients and direct us to the proper course of treatment.

In A&P, it was cardiac. And even now in nursing school, it's cardiac. :-)

Digestive system.
