What Type of Entrance Test is Required?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I am curious to know what type of entrance test is required for your program. The program closest to me is the ACT. Yep, the ACT! I am so frustrated by this because I cannot grasp this at all! I haven't touched geometry since 10th grade (I'm 29) and no matter how hard I try, I cannot grasp the science part >.

It depends on the program you're applying to, as all of them tend to have different requirements to be admitted into their program. My program required that I take the TEAS test and that score was taken into consideration with my application.

TEAS, HESI A2, NLN ... There are many different entrance exams for different programs some don't even require a test. You need to do research. TEAS and HESI prep books are more than enough for those exams

My program required TEAS V..you had to have at least a 65 to even get an application. Higher score meant a higher chance of getting in.

Both of the programs I applied to required the TEAS V. One of them bases admission off of the score from that and a critical thinking test. The other bases admission off of pre req grades and only wants you to get at least the proficient level on the teas.

The ACT? You could sign up for that even though you are not in high school? There are several different entrance exams but usually the ACT is reserved for high school students. Double check and make sure that's not for general admission to the college.

Yup. If your ACT is older than 5 years you must re-take it before you can apply for the program. I hate it. I looked over a prep book on the TEAS and I honestly would take that over the ACT.

HESI for mine.

Specializes in Med/Surg, Oncology.

My ADN program requires the TEAS V. It was harder than I expected, but reasonable if you study the materials available!

Depends on the school. Three of the colleges in my area require TEAS and one is HESI.

The school I will be attending does not require an ACT if you are over the age of 25 and requires the Kaplan nursing entrance exam. Good Luck!!
