What did you think of General Psychology?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

My psych instructor had our class split into groups and discuss what we expected from the class when we first started and how it differed from our expectations. Several people in my group said they were surprised that it was so "intense" and is not an "Introductory level" course. One woman said she thought it was harder than A&P!

More than half the class failed the last exam, so I know that people were struggling. I thought it was a good bit of work to keep up with, but not difficult to understand at all. What surprised me the most about the class was how much biology was involved - I loved it!

I'm curious to see what others thought. Maybe it was just a fluke. ???

Could have been my instructor, but it was probably one of the most boring classes I have ever had. I was yawning with tears in my eyes every day. Was not really hard to me though. Just dry and boring as heck. Very Ben Stein like.

We watched movies all the time. He wrote notes on the board and tested off those. Never read. 4.0.

I was really bored with it as well.

I have really enjoyed any general psych class that I have taken. I took one in high school, one at a community college while I was still in high school, and then one at my university. I have always found them to be very interesting and not too challenging. A lot of theory-based information, but I found it very interesting!

It would have been more difficult with a biological focus to psychology. I think the classes that I have taken have been easier because they were more theory-based.

I took my general psychology course online and it's been my favorite course thus far. The teacher was great. Our essay assignments were interesting, and the quizzes were easy- yet I still feel like I learned a lot and will retain the knowledge.

Im actually taking mine this summer and I am really looking forward to it. From the teachers reviews it seems like it will be very interesting!

Ugh, I am taking it this summer for 6weeks

1-3 tues, wed, thurs ughhh I heard the professor I am taking is really easy, but I was bored when I took intro to psych in HS, i doubt college will be anymore interesting.

I took the class online and found it very engaging, but the assignments and group work seemed more like "filler" rather than a learning aid. There was a lot of assigned reading, but the work did not really test your retention of the reading. The final exam was quite a bit harder than I expected for a 100 level class. The exam was straight from the readings, but as I said we didn't have a lot of reinforcement of the material. In retrospect, I think the professor may have structured the class this way to make it seem more fun since it is a pre-req. Unfortunately, I think this probably backfired on some students.

Mine was horribly boring. I stopped going to class and only showed up for tests and still got an A. It completely depends on the teacher and what they expect of their students though because I loved Developmental Psych. administered by a different prof. and I thought it was much more challenging and worth going to.

I am taking it online right now. I thought it was fairly easy. I've been done for a couple weeks, just waiting to do the final. I had one chapter that was all A&P review - loved that chapter. Half of the chapters were interesting enough the other half were a little boring. It wasn't as bad a Sociology that was a total bore for me. My class is actually a joke, you get 2-3 chances for each exam even the final?? That did not motivate me to "study" only to highlight/tab my book well. I am hoping Life Span is more interesting.

Sounds like the teacher might be making it difficult. I remember general psychology being easy. I did think that Developmental psychology was interesting. You will like that class.

Sometimes I wonder if professors who teach introductory level courses intentionally make the course more difficult because many students expect it to be an "easy A". I'm sure that is frustrating to a professor.
