Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I am 31 yrs.mother for 2 girls 5months and 7 yrs.i can not be full time student at all.

I am a foreign student . I have Bs in mass media from my country so I am legible for pell grant ( non refund) if I won't use my Bs.thinking to earn a second bachelor( nursing school)

I really need advice about two choices.)))

1- start regular nurse school for 4 yrs and it will be free

2-or start an accelerate ( Absn ) program for 12-16)month and it will

I think you have to do what is best for your situation. For example, I was going to finish my BA in biology then do an accelerated nursing program but accelerated programs take your full attention and since i work, to pay my way through life, I can't realistically only focus on nursing school so transferring to a 2yr BA program would be best for me and I am planning to do so for the fall of 2017. Also focus on what you want out of the programs. I have many friends in a traditional nursing programs and they tell me how hard it is already so imagine how an accelerated program will be. At the end of the day it comes down to what works best for your life.

If you can't be a full time student then an accelerated program won't work for you. As far as I know they are all full time programs.

Your post is very confusing. I'm not sure how you think school will be free. Are you under the assumption that a pell grant will cover nursing school fully? That would be a very bad assumption on your part, OP

Students pursuing a second bachelor's degree typically are not eligible for most financial aid. Since you state that you already have a degree, this will probably impact what financial assistance you are eligible for.

A pell grant will pay all of your tuition? You must be going to an exceptionally cheap school.

If you cant do full time then absn is not for you. Absn's are even more than full time

Are you eligible for licensure & work in the US? If not, neither route will be an option.

I am not aware of Pell Grants covering 100% of any course of study, with the exception of some programs in Community Colleges. As PPs have stated, all accelerated programs require a full-time commitment. Most nursing schools will require a full-time commitment during clinical education, unless the program has been explicitly designed for part-time completion. Nursing programs are rathter inflexible in terms of schedule.

That is right

I am legable for pell grant( if)I will not use my first degree.that is mean I can start nursing school as 4 years (Bsn) and pell grant will cover my tuitions.

that is because I had my bachelor from my country .but if I will use it in this case I have to looking for an accelerate program like ABsn

and excuse my bad english✍

Thank u so much for ur helping

You're not understanding. There is no way that a pell grant is going to pay for a BSN no matter if you have a previous degree, whether you plan to use it or not and what country you earned it in. Also, please stop using text speak, you are in violation of TOS when you do so

Where are you getting your information, OP? I think you need to do some more research. My kids did not qualify for pell grants right out of high school, no previous bachelor degrees.
