Nursing Students Pre-Nursing
Published Mar 10, 2014
How many of us are out there?
I am 34, married with a 10 month old. I already have a bachelor degree and a master of public health. Hoping to be accepted into a nursing program this fall. Waiting for letters is soooo hard!

23 y.o, married for five years, mother of a three year old, and graduated in May with my ADN. I bet only two out of my class of 60 were "traditional" students.

It certainly does seem that non-traditionals are more "traditional" these days. Glad that we will have good company.

I am new to the group and this will be my first post. I am 32 years old, I have been married for almost 9 years and I have a 3 year old daughter and an 11 month old son. I graduated in 2009 with my AAS in Dental Hygiene. I have all pre reqs completed and I apples to the program 2 days ago and will be taking the Pax RN March 26.

You'll likely find that in nursing school, too. Our class is young, as about 1/2 are in their early to mid twenties, but many of us are parents and married. The class above us, I think, probably had a median age of about 35.
I like that they are a lot of second degree folks around too. I was afraid I was gonna be the old lady in the class. Lol.
When I sat for the TEAS I think the average age in the room was 19/20!

I'm 30 with an undergrad in finance and masters in international business. I have been working in real estate development and renewable energy development for the past eight years. Starting an ABSN program this fall. So excited to get away from the desk and into the field where life really happens!

I'm 35 with two girls: a 9 year old and a 1 year old who is medically complex. I'm a year into pre-reqs with a year left. I'm only taking one class per semester right now because that is all I can manage well while working and being the primary caregiver to our little one.

While the majority of our class is very young there are a handful of us that are older. I like how everyone has something they can bring to the table. I'm 34 with two kids, one with special needs and my best study buddy is 47 with 10 kids. ;-)

married 31 y/o here. mom of 4 boys ages 1, 3, 4, 12 and pg with my 5th boy due in June. taking pre-reqs right now and finally decided on a NS to attend and which program to attend. hold 2 jobs as a CNA- 1 @ a LTC alzheimers unit and 1 on a Med-Surg wing of a hospital. gotta have my foot in either place so i'll have a nursing job when i graduate. especially since right now, my "what i wanna do when i grow up" specialty preference changes :)
