Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hello everyone!

Question for all of you, especially those who have just been accepted into their nursing programs for the fall. Some immunization need to be started 6 months prior ( hep b , I think) how are we expected to be ready for this fall if we just got accepted? I just emailed my advisor earlier, but was wondering how to go about this. In order to go into the program you need all your shots done before you can start clinicals.i just got my second hep b last month and the last one is not scheduled until October.

Our program requires us to have started the series by the time class starts not complete. As long as we stay on track with it, they're fine.

I think usually as long as you have started the series you are fine. For the hospital where I volunteer I needed the full series of hep b shots, but was allowed to start volunteering as soon as I got the first shot and continue so long as I got the 2 boosters when I became eligible.

I had this same panic. I was assured that I was fine as long add I kept up to date and let them know when I got my boosters. I also found out that hep b is voluntary for my program. And fromwhat I've read you can't even guage immunity until 2 months after the final booster. You might need to sign a waiver of nothing else.

I'm guessing it's like these guys have said, as long as it's started, but call the nursing department tomorrow and verify.

Your physician will complete the forms given to you by the school that you have the vaccine series started. You just get a sign off as you go back and you may even need more after your titers are drawn.

I would say ask your nursing program to be sure. Mine required for the series to be complete before being able to start the program. Your program would be able to answer this question for you.
