I'm going crazy...I WANT classes to start

OK, I know I'm just plain nuts - but I am going stir crazy. I have already taken down my Christmas tree, cleaned the whole house, got the exercise equipment all set back up (Mom was staying in that room during her visit), and I have reorganized my pantry. I have been updating my music collection tags, I am now looking at organizing the cupboards under the sinks and thinking of alphabetizing my spices (already labeled). HELP ME! My classes don't start until January 19th and I am wishing they started tomorrow - anyone else?

PS. I am on Ch 2 of my Chem and Ch 4 of my AP textbook already and working my way through 4 chem help books (dummies, studysolver, etc) at the same time.

Hmmmm you sound plenty busy to me. How much more action do you need? :) One of my winter term classes just showed up on blackboard and my fall classes started late so I'll be finishing them up as the spring semester begins. It's okay to slow down the pace and relax a bit every now and again to prevent burnout down the road. I still have plenty of household chores to do so I'm glad for my break.

I feel your pain... classes ended right at the same time we discharged almost all our patients, so I was twiddling my thumbs at work for the last few days. I do have a paper for another course to finish, but I can't wait for class to start this term (yes, I know I'll regret saying that in a couple of weeks!). Luckily I only have to wait until Jan 7th. You get so used to studying at every quiet moment, it feels weird not to have anything to study!

I'm still working (not in healthcare). Sadly, I'm waiting until the very end of MARCH for classes to begin. Pretty painful. I was studying Saunder's NCLEX book and just got Calculating with Confidence (Deborah C. Gray Morris) to get a head start.

I've slaughtered the dust farm under my bed. Working on organizing my eventual workspace. Someday soon, I may try to learn how to wake up early in the morning (as opposed to 8am, since I'll have classes to be at - an hour away - by then). I don't want to think about clinicals.

wow. you are awesome. i wish i had all of those things done! i'm in the opposite situation, and in the process of moving in to my mom's house - so, while i really WOULD like classes to begin, i also want to be completely organized by the time they start and fear i'm running out of time!! you rock!

I hole-punched all of my handouts for A&P 1 and put them in a binder. I think I should find out what books I need for my classes next semester. I thought it was way too early to by a Saunder's NCLEX book, but I'll look into it.

Wish I could find out what books I needed but our Bookstore doesnt allow us to look them up until the 5th of January. I just want classes to start again. My SO has been laid off for over a month and is home during the day while I am at work so all the householdy stuff is done and there is ABSOLUTELY no busy work for me to do when I get home. I don't know what to do with myself with being on break! It's silly, after 4 years out of school I never thought I would be so excited for my second semester to start again. I am such a dork. :chuckle

I am the type of person who likes to be organized, however I can't maintain it. I find I go in spurts and so have to do what I can, when I can. I have the energy and excitement to do things right now and I wish I could put this energy towards my classes and labs. I would love to be 'even-keeled' but I have learned I'm just not that way, so have to use it when I got it. lol

sunray 12 - I would love to relax, I'm just not in that space right now. However, if I was on a warm beach somewhere I think I could force myself! lol

ghillbert - I know what you mean, my routine has been totally thrown off by the holidays. Classes are out, my hubby has been home for 4 days and kids aren't in their schoolwork groove (we homeschool). I want my routine back! While the kids do schoolwork I get some of mine done, clean house, grocery shop, make dinner during the afternoons, and when hubby is off work, he'll be playing his game and me working on my notes when its quiet, ahhh, I can't wait to have it back.

Loner - I would go totally bonkers if I was in your spot, good luck!!!

nursingschool4mama - I understand where you are at. We moved from an apartment into a rental house (our actual home is 2 hrs north of us here, go figure) about a week before Thanksgiving. I was in the middle of my classes and moved the house. It wasn't so bad, I had the house all organized and set up in time for Thanksgiving dinner and guests. Maybe that's why I am going so nuts, most of everything is already organized from the move. Even the garage is set up...ugh. You CAN do it and be all organized before classes start, now moving back in with MY Mother would kill me. I tell people I love my Mom, I just love my Mom 1500 miles away...lol! Good luck - you can do it!!

mochabean - I am taking A&PI too this semester. I am excited and nervous about this class all at the same time, its so important. I have been studying the systems and I got the Mosby Med Terminology Flash Cards for Christmas, so I am working on those too. I'm not going to get the NCLEX book until I am done with my pre-reqs, too early for me. Good luck!!

Princess M83 - That really sucks about your books, why on earth don't they want you to know what they are? That's just a dumb policy if you ask me. This is my second semester of classes (part-time too) and I have been out of school for 20+ years, so we can be excited dorks together, lol.

I have no idea why they insist on making us wait. I hope they don't do that when I get into the Nursing Program. I think the program gives you book lists for each semester but when you are taking regular classes they don't let you look up books on the school bookstore site. You can't even get the ISBN off the site to buy elsewhere. ARGH I love Community College but they annoy me sometimes.

Thanks for thinking I'm not a big dork. I hated college when I went right out of Highschool even when I was going for Photography which I totally love but now that I am going for Nursing I am soooo super excited. I guess that it's because I have a "real" goal. Not that photography wasn't a real goal it just wasn't a totally realistic one since it is really hard to start your own company.

My address is 4100. . .:chuckle You can start in the kids' playroom, then work your way into my scrapbooking room, then my husband's office. I also need to transform our home theater into an extra guest room, and this includes painting all the walls and ceiling and moving BIG furniture. Oh, and I promised my 4 year old I would repaint his room. When can you start?

J/K. My classes start Jan 17 and I am ready, too, but as always, I have 30+ major things on my list to complete before that date!

back2thebooks - LOL! If I was there I would help! We are in a rental and I can't do anything like that here. Our house is 2 hrs north and needs a whole interior paint job too, I will probably be doing it this summer before we move back in. Hopefully the move falls between semesters. I am working on our crawl space now and then when I get up there every couple of weeks (still got some plants there), I have a downstairs bedroom full of boxes and totes to go to a garage sale in the summer. I have 10 years of stuff to go through and have felt for a couple years now to lighten the load. Hmmm...you got me thinking maybe I can take a couple days and work on it, at least gas is cheap now, only costs me 25 to fill up the Jeep as opposed to 75, woohoo. Thanks for the plan! lol
