HELP! Interview this weekend!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

SO I just got a call from Concordia Irvine and I have been selected for an interview, this weekend! I'm totally freaking out because I'm just worried I won't be prepared!

Have any of you done interviews yet? What kind of questions are asked? Have you gotten any advice related to this subject? Anything would be helpful! Thanks!

One piece advice I can give you from someone who had an interview last summer, is take a deep breath and relax. And I know that's hard to do, but you need to be yourself. If you come to the interview all nervous that will not be a good sneak peak of you.

The questions that I were asked, and this is from another school.

1. Why did choose this school?

2. What kind of job experiences have you had?

3. Have you ever had to make a decision at work, if so how did you handle it.

4. Do you believe in keeping a patients status confidential; like do you believe in gossiping, that kind of thing.

5. Why do you believe you would be a good nurse?

I stressed over my interview too, but I will tell you no matter what advice you get from this post you just need to go in their with your head high and believe in yourself. I know some colleges have advisors that will help guide you through a interview, so you should check with your college.

Break a leg:nuke:

I have one on Thursday, and I too am clueless. I will take this as a learning lesson. How about it anybody, any advice on good interviewing tips???

Be well groomed, professional and when answering their questions honest and succinct. Carry your body language as to show pride and confidence.

thanks behilton! i think im just nervous right now because i just got the call, I'm sure I will calm down by saturday :)

congratulations on the call back... i've applied to concordia too... hope to get a call back like you did... don't get nervous, just remember that you've actually passed the hardest part of all of it, and that's being able to get an interview... a lot of people will not even get one (like me)...and think of it as them trying to get to know you more... i bet you'll do well...

btw, do you notice if their call is blocked? =) thanks...

Congrats on the interview.

I was going to apply there, but missed the deadline :( Did you need letters or rec?

I had an interview a couple weeks ago and I was super nervous!

Looking back now, I think you should just be relaxed.

Maybe practice answering questions to family, friends. Have them ask you questions.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

To bbyjaden, i didnt notice if the call was blocked. I know they are having more than one interview day in March so don't get discouraged yet!

to as27, you needed two letters of rec, on their form.

And just for anyonw wondering, they said they had about 150 people who began the admissions process at Concordia and said they projected admitting 40-50% of those who completed the application, so I'd say that's pretty good odds compared to a lot of nursing schools around. So bbyjaden keep your head up!

is concordia california accrediated?

The university is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The department of

nursing will be seeking accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) after the

first class begins. The Department of Nursing is seeking accreditation from CCNE in the spring 2009. (From the Program FAQ's)

The school is also listed on the California Board of Registered Nursing as an approved program.

Congrats on the interview.

believe in yourself.I think you should just be relaxed.

good luck.

Congratulations! I applied to Concordia for Fall of 2009 but never got a call for an interview. I didn't know they called you for interviews as their FAQ states that you can call to ask questions about transcripts/coursework but an interview is not required. But they may have changed their requirements as they did require 2 recommendations that is stated in their FAQ as optional. Anyways, I hope I get an interview. If not, does that mean I'm not going to be considered? Wow, I had no clue....But congrats! I would say relax and be confident.
