Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Anybody thinking about El Centro/ Northlake in the DCCCD for Jan 2006?

Specializes in Operating Room.

So, are you saying that I'm going to be crying everyday from 8/29-10/21? LOL

Momxtres, I hope to get in to NLC for Spring '06, but am putting both down as well. (even though I don't want to.....I really want NLC!) lol Good luck! :)

1405 is Introductory Chem rather than the General Chem 0f 1411. If you were going to medical school or were an engineering major, 1405 would do you no good at all.

The way I'm reading the book so far, 1405 looks like high school chemistry only not quite as hard....of course I took high school chem in 1973-74 school year and took college level general chem (2 semesters) in 1975-76 at Texas Tech.

Are you taking it at Eastfield? If so, what section are you in?

Mike

I never took high school chemistry. I tried taking it one time before in college, but withdrew due to family issues but I did get past 1 lab and 1 test and I actually didn't do too bad on the test. Yes I will be taking it at Eastfield. Is that where you are going? I am taking the one that is on MWF 9-10 something am and the lab is on Wed. till I think almost 1.

I'm taking it from an adjunct instructor named Register on TR at 5:35 PM. Don't sweat it, this course pretty basic and shouldn't be any problem.

I am so excited to find this thread. I am starting the support courses at Brookhaven in the Fall. I am a sahm of two young daughters and can't do full out nursing school (assuming I could get in :) until the young one starts kindergarten. My plan is to take all the support courses amd pre-reqs in the next three years, and then apply. This should help lighten my load and get me in. I have a BS but didn't take any A&P. I have heard that the DCCCD programs are great and competitive. The info session was very helpful.

Ashley

There is a crash program at either TCU or at TWU (I'm old and can't remember which now) that offers a 1 year transition for a BS degree. If you have a BS in ANYTHING, they will have you finished with a BSRN in 1 year of full time school. You might want to check that out.

Good Morning all you Dallas folks!

Good Morning!

I have a physical today.

G'morning Fun2Care...I don't think you'll be crying. You'll be challenged pretty well but if you've got the discipline to study and work, you'll be alright. Remember that algebra comes in really handy in Chem. (stochiometery) and the old rule about "doing it on both sides of the equation" still applies.

I probably should have taken the same course that you are but I'm in a time crunch and am out of work right now but have a couple of pretty good job offers about to hit. I was a bit timid about class commitments while not knowing about a work schedule.

Fun2care, I think you will do great in that Chem class.

Mike1957, did you do the CST program at El Centro?

LKG, is this for your app?

Hye SunnyJohn,

No, I haven't done anything at El Centro yet. I am about to start getting all of my stuff together to apply for next fall. I'm also working on a couple of job opportunities in both the Methodist and Presby hospital systems that may prove to be quite useful.

Thanks...I'm gonna try to kick bootay again .......or at least just pass the class....LOL

CHANGE OF PLANS!!!!!

Since I am taking the Chem class, and it starts Monday, I called my Dr's office. (Luckily it was a different person than I talked to b/4!) LOL

I asked her to check with the nurse if it would be ok if I took the last HepB shot tomorrow, instead of Monday. They said yes, so I am doing my physical, PPD, HepB, and possibly 1 out of 2 HepA shots tomorrow! (maybe I should go ahead and get a MMR or a titer?!?!?!) I wonder if all of this can go together or will I end up with a slight case of MeaslruehepB-Amumptitis? :rotfl: :rotfl:

Now I can take my application down there tomorrow!

OK, well, not tomorrow, Friday! lol....

I'm getting too excited. I keep forgetting about having to go back to have my PPD checked! LOL

Now I have to check the hours of the Health dept at ECC for Friday!! :balloons:

Gawd...let's see. I've had Hep A (no shots...I had Hep A in 1973), When I had MMR...there weren't shots... I had the diseases....let's see what 3rd world country I have been to for TB exposure? This is going to be so much fun....I'll be a pin cushion.
