Anybody thinking about El Centro/ Northlake in the DCCCD for Jan 2006?

Anybody thinking about El Centro/ Northlake in the DCCCD for Jan 2006?

I am new. This is my first post! I will be finished with my pre-reqs on Dec. 15 and God willing am going to try to get my application in to El Centro for the late acceptance by Dec. 20. I heard that they always don't need people but I'm gonna try anyway. If I don't get in then maybe I will in Aug. 2006.

The music appreciation is an online class through Brookhaven & the Telecampus. I'm taking the Chemistry at Mountain View. It's closer to Arlington, where I live, and NLC only has Chem 1411 at night.

I decided on 1411 because it is a more advance course than is required by BHC or Tarrant CC, and it is the requirement for the RN-BSN at UTA. LOL :)

The thought of having to take chemistry during the summer, or after I started working didn't sound too good. So, I'm biting the bullet.

I wanted to take a break, but if I was working I wouldn't have a break....guess I need to get used to it!!! LOL :)

OH HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just realized the chem 1411 I signed up for is from 8/29 to 10/21/05! I didn't realize it was a fast-track!

I told my husband I was going to be there from 8 - 1:50, and he asked, "For one class?" I said yeah, it's lecture and lab, told him the times, then thought to myself, that sure is a long time! THEN, I saw the dates, ......NO WONDER!!!!!! OMG! lol Well, I guess I have done OK working under pressure with my other fast-track classes, so we will see.

OK....well, the music class goes to December, so I should be ok. LOL Maybe I should drop the music class, & enroll in the music class that is from 10-21 to 12-15?!?!?!?!?!

WISH ME LUCK, PRAY FOR ME, SLAP ME IN THE FACE AND MAKE ME THINK STRAIGHT......whatever it takes! :rotfl: :rotfl:

ADDED NOTE: I WILL be taking the MUSI 1306 that starts October 21st. It's a done deal. :)

Welcome!! I tried getting into the late admission for the Fall but was told there would be no way I could get in because there was 80 people already waiting and would be better if I just waited for the Spring semester. It is different each semester though, from what I heard. Good luck!

I wonder how much difference there is between CHEM 1411 and CHEM 1405. I will be taking CHEM 1405 which is required by Baylor. Good luck to you!! I am freaking out with chemistry and it is the regular semester much less fast track! lol

Fun2care, so much for taking a break this semester! Chemistry, wowee... Well you will be busy and that will help pass the time 'til October and the acceptance letters.:clown:

My fiance said the music book and CDs may be in the storage shed. He will go in a day or so to check.

I took the fast track Chem class at Northlake. It was pretty intense, but doable. The prof was quick, quick, quick!

Good luck

lalajenn, I doubt there is a huge difference. I think I originally took a general chem (1411) back in 1993, but that's when I met my future hubby....I ended up dropping all of my courses that semester. LOL (Ok, so now I have my priorities straight!) :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

I think chem 1405 is a fundamentals of chem class.

I called Brookhaven and asked if I had 1411 would it be accepted for their chem requirement. The lady said yes because it was a more advance class than their required chem.

SonnyJohn, hopefully I have my mind set for the quick, quick, quick after taking Micro & A&P 2 in the summer! LOL :)

1405 is Introductory Chem rather than the General Chem 0f 1411. If you were going to medical school or were an engineering major, 1405 would do you no good at all.

The way I'm reading the book so far, 1405 looks like high school chemistry only not quite as hard....of course I took high school chem in 1973-74 school year and took college level general chem (2 semesters) in 1975-76 at Texas Tech.

Are you taking it at Eastfield? If so, what section are you in?

Mike
