Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Ok, no one has started this yet, so I guess I will. I start A&P I on January 18th, lab and lecture.

Here are a few good websites I have found...some are basic, some may be more indepth than your instructor asks for.....BUT it gives you a little more to look over before class starts next month! :) ....Never forget the website for your actual book too!!!!!!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU

Count me in! I start A&P 1 on January 5.

Welcome to the club, RN_2007!! :)

wardenbelle: Thanks for dropping in, and congrats on your A!!!! Good luck in A&P 2, and thanks for any help in advance!

I finished A&P I last semester with an "A". Moving on to A&P II this semester and then Microbiology in the summer. I loved the labs. They were great! I think school is great. I graduated high school in 1985 and went back last year, so had alot of adjusting to do. So far, so good, GPA 3.86 and hope to keep it that way. We did kidney and heart disections and then this semester we will be disecting a cat (EWWW) I think it should be like a pig or something, I eat those. :chuckle If you all need help, let me know, I will point you in the right direction anyway.

Thank you... I am sure I will definitely need help & thank you Fun2Care for your support !!!:)

hey- just got my books today! I found the text used, in really good condition (no hi-lighting) and with the CD, student access kit, AND human body atlas all for $105. I felt that to be a pretty good deal. I also picked up the study guide since they had one used for $20. Some people say they never used it- but I think I'll try everything this first semester back. Along with the lab manual and fetal pig dissection manual, and a shiny new 3-ring binder( I had an old one but couldn't resist the pretty new pink one!)- it all cost $185.

I saw a guy I know & he had A&PI last summer, same instructor that I got. ANyway, he said the guy's notes are available at Kinkos and he goes by them in class so I might just have to add a little here & there. He also warned me that everyone FAILED the first lab exam (cellular structure and histology) the average grade was 40/100. & I'd better be well prepared. I looked over the schedule and we have the first exam after the first two weeks- and it covers 2 units! that's alot! I'm starting to read tonight!

I'm pretty psyched now & really glad for the support here!

Have Fun & Good Luck everyone!

Yep,

Not much of a holiday break huh? It has helped me from getting out of the study habits though. No time to be lazy.

OMG, Okie2, everyone failed? I hope knowing this before helps you to be more prepared than "that group of everyone"! lol

I spent my holiday week studying A&P. From today until the 11th, I'm stuck doing English essays again. :uhoh3: Then, I'll get another week to study A&P before I get slapped in the face with it! :chuckle

Again......good luck to everyone!!!

Thanks Fun2Care. I like the Albert Einstein qoute on your sig. I like a lot of what he had to say. :coollook::)

einsteinsboi: Thanks.....I did a search for "famous quotes". :rotfl:

I'm a new poster here and need all of the support I can muster up!

My best friend from childhood is an RN, so she's been giving me some good tips and letting me know what the realities will be.

This is my second semester. Besides A&P, I'm taking Eng/Writing 102,

MA 111, and a required computer course.

Also as support, I'm going to school everyday with another member here lovinthreeangels HELLO AMANDA

So, we are a couple of crazy friends that are going through this journey together, which makes it nicer. We did all last semester together, and THAT was crazy! We saw much more of each other than we did our own families.

The scores at our school would be posted outside the lab door, we would look out of curiosity...the scores were pretty bad, I've got to say.

So, we are a bit put off by that. :uhoh21:

We would all welcome any tips to newbie A&P students, any BTDT's?

What I wish I would have known stories?

Blessings in 2005,

Stephanie

Hi Stephanie,

Glad to have you here with us all. I think its great to have a buddy to go through the program with. My sister and I were planning on doing this very same thing, but due to unforseen circumstances she couldnt sign up for this semester. I chose to move forward with my goals regardless. I think this thread it going to prove beneficial to us all and am glad it was started. Good luck to you, and welcome!

Tracy

Luckily the "everyone" group is only one section of lab- thank goodness. I really hope he was exaggerating! AND- yes it was great to be warned- I'll definitely start right away reviewing the micro/histo stuff.

I went to take a look at my classrooms after buying my books. I kinda got lost- so I'm glad I took a tour before the first day of class! The classroom is small- and each section is limited to 30 people. This will be much different than my previous experience with university classes that numbered in the 100s! I won't be able to hide in the back :)

Welcome everyone! Let's stick together- we can do it!

Can I join :chuckle

I also am nontrad at 31 with 3 kids aged 10, 7 and 4. I am taking A&P by itself because I went through it once before and dropped. I was 18 and too young to care. Now, I could kick myself. It will be great to have a group of us to help get through it. I won't have time to go to study groups.

Hi Tracy!

Thanks for the welcome. My friend and I are vrey apprehensive about this A&P class....praying for the best! It is nice to have someone to do all of this with, commute with, ect....I'm just worried about one of us going on and making it into the clinicals and one of us not! We take our entrance exam at the end of this month.

Good luck to you, too!

onehusbandsevenkids: welcome to the club! :) i'm glad you have a friend that is taking classes as well. you can keep each other's motivation up! don't worry about one making it, and one not making it. even if one gets ahead of the other, you will still have someone to lean on, a mentor. good luck to you, you can do it!!

ckkala: of course you can join! lol welcome! :) i also am 31, so hopefully we are both "mature" enough to put 100% into our class, and make an a!!! :chuckle
